Limit for Semi autos?

Recommended Posts

Well, there is the grey area, of the magazine of a Saiga being detachable.

Under this line, the gun fails at being an assault weapon, and is legal with any capacity mag (up to 15 rounds):

iii. A semi-automatic shotgun that has at least two of the following:

(1) A folding or telescoping stock;

(2) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon;

(3) A fixed magazine capacity in excess of six rounds; and/or

(4) An ability to accept a detachable magazine;

But then, under this line, it's questionable, because it's clear the intent was on fixed magazines:

3. A semi-automatic shotgun with either a magazine capacity exceeding six rounds, a folding stock

or a pistol grip;

Of Course, federal 922R laws would apply.

S12's are great fun, mine is my primary skeet/trap gun. its great fun watching people stare as you load a big-looking magazine into your AK-type on the skeet fields. :D

One thing I always wondered about in regards to the semi-auto shotgun limit:

A magazine tube that can hold six 3" long shot shells is at least 18" long. If instead of using 3" long shells, you used 2.5" long shells, you'd be able to fit seven of them (18"/2.5" = 7.2).

I see nowhere that NJ law distinguishes what a "standard" shotgun shell length is.
