Urban Grunt 44 Posted March 10, 2010 Has anyone have/use a Pelican case,i just got the 1450 in green to transport hand guns to the range ect,it's has locking points,water/shock proof and has a lifetime guarantee but does not cover damage from sharks, bear and kids under 5. Has anyone got likes/dislikes for the case.
kenw 293 Posted March 10, 2010 I have a bunch of Pelicans that I use for my photo gear. Nothing better. They're tough, strong, waterproof, relatively light and the lifetime guarantee is real. I had a clasp break on one case that I've had for longer than I can remember, sent it back and not only did they replace the broken clasp with new and improved version, they replaced the other 3 as well. I can't enough good things about Pelican.
Urban Grunt 44 Posted March 10, 2010 The wife has her camera stuff in a pelican case. My new range case.
Shane45 807 Posted March 10, 2010 New Pelican is Nice. I didnt care for older pelican cases. I Like Storm just a bit better though. Its the latches. Old Pel latches were a pita. New ones are much better but not as nice or as easy as the storm latches. Other than that its 6 on one, half doeson on the other.
EchoMirage 137 Posted March 11, 2010 the shark and bear insurance is an extra cost, but i hear the new 2011 models are going to be manbearpig resistant.
kmc_xd40 0 Posted March 12, 2010 Anyone looking for a cost effective way to get a waterproof hard case you should try http://fammocan.com, they provide foam inserts for military ammo cans that will allow for the storage of just about any handgun. a budy of mine in Vegas just got one at a gun show last weekend for $10 and sent me the link, can't find anyone local that carries them though. They also have a saddle bag type of thing for the ammocans that makes it a great range case. pretty cool idea and I'd like to get my hands on some 7fBJ_dCpc8E
Kal 0 Posted March 12, 2010 I like his ingenuity and while it may work out if you only have 1-2 pistols. I cant see having that many cans floating around the back of the truck. Also Starlight makes a decent case.

Shane45 807 Posted March 16, 2010 Looks like he got precut foam. You just pull the blocks out to desired shape.
coldsolderjoint 84 Posted March 16, 2010 urban grunt... how did you cut out your foam? What tool did u use? Or a razor blade plus pulling.
Pizza Bob 1,489 Posted March 16, 2010 urban grunt... how did you cut out your foam? What tool did u use? While I've never tried it, I understand that an electric carving knife works very well for cutting foam rubber. Adios, Pizza Bob
Urban Grunt 44 Posted March 17, 2010 The foam comes pre cut, small squares its called pick and pull. I just picked up a Pelican 1450 new on ebay for $
the m700 project 0 Posted April 30, 2010 I have 6 of em and love them. they have kept my stuff safe for the past 5 years or so. The hardigg storms are supposedly on par with pelican maybe a bitt cheaper. But Pelican just feels right to me. Plus Pelican sent a million dollars worth of flashlights to aid in Haiti. Missionmtman 2 Posted May 25, 2010 I use Pelican cases for everything. They hold up for scuba diving gear too. If it can handle saltwater, they are good enough for me.
Bob B 103 Posted May 26, 2010 How's the foam? Anyone ever see any corrosion at contact points with the foam?
