coldsolderjoint 84 Posted June 5, 2010 If it's orginal, its prop worth some serious money, but if it's a repro.. im just guessing somewhere in the $100 to $300 range depending on specs, condition, etc
MedicYeti 96 Posted June 5, 2010 It is an 1858 Army cap and ball revolver. (1858 army's were the only ones with a removable cylinder). It is likely a reproduction which Cabelas sells for about 270 but as previously stated if it is original it's likely worth some money. They are fun guns and if you've never shot black powder handguns it is a different experience. Shooting my cap and ball Navy gives me an appriciation for what our ancestors accomplished. chefhunter34 1 Posted June 5, 2010 OK I have the gun in my possession. it says made in Italy, on the side of the barrel.Navy Arms Co. Ridgefield nj on top of the barrel Black Powder only 44 cal on other side. The first 3 # of serial # are 086. I am guessing from looking at it it is a reproduction . Just needs a dusting, but otherwise great shape.
njpilot 671 Posted June 5, 2010 Don't know if that is the same gun, but Clint Eastwood used a gun like that in the movie Pale Rider. My friend went and bought one after seeing the movie. I remember it being a "Navy" model. Was a real pain in the a** to put the cylinder back in.

Blackfox 1 Posted June 6, 2010 Some of Navy arms (Ridgefield) Black Powders revolvers were built by Beretta in Italy
chefhunter34 1 Posted June 7, 2010 Looks like that is what I have, once I clean it up, I am going to take it to find out what it would be worth. I am selling it for a friend, his father passed and does not want it in his house. Now locked in my safe.
