also from aim... 8mm romanian 1972 manfacture.. my camera died so i used a pic from aim..

 

 

I bought exactly same ammo, from the armory, paid $128 shipped ...

 

Oh, and you have a VZ24? Did you buy it locally or the net? pics please!

Good shooting ammo. Unfortunatly most if not all mausers have twist rates for the 196 grain stuff. My k98 shoots it OK though. Sure fire stuff though.

 

looking for the rate of twist for the vz24, but i did find this which raises some questions on your statement..

 

The 8mm Mauser, came into existence in 1905 when the 7.92x57J was upgraded with a 154 grain spitzer bullet with a diameter of .323. This was the primary military round for Germany during WWI and WWII.

in 1905 they did go to the 154, but in 1934 the germans went to the 197

Alot of threads show the same trend, "Shoot heavier bullets"

 

The twist off the top of my head is somewhere around 1:240mm (approx 1:9.5") which is very fast.

 

"The German standard sS (schweres Spitzgeschoß/heavy pointed bullet) ball bullet was 35.3 mm (1.389 in) long, boat-tailed, and very well made.[2] It was lead filled, had a gilding-metal-plated jacket, and weighed 12.8 grams (198 grains)."
