Rifle Scope Mounting

I guess this is wierd but still want to ask. What happens if I mount both rings between the adjusting turret and the eyepiece. Scope in cantilever mode, vibrates and self destructs? Lousy shooting performance?

 

Why? Rail is only 4 inch. Trying to move scope forward maybe just an inch or so. Didn't want to use a longer riser/rail.

The front of the scope would move - your aim would be horrible.

It depends on the scope. Some new scopes are designed to be mounted this way. If its a cheapie scope, it may pull its self apart as cheap scopes are often multi piece tubes glued together.

Nikon ProStaff 2-7x32.

I think I am headed for riser land. Or maybe a NATO length stock instead of the current Warsaw. Or even a pinned adjustable style.
