SigSauer229 0 Posted May 18, 2011 I have a Yankee Hill Machine fluted non-threaded barrel. I got this barrel cause, I thought a threaded barrel wasn't NJ compliant. I later found out it was ok so long as I have a pinned and welded muzzle brake. I wanted to know if anyone knew if its possible to have the barrel threaded and if so who and where can I send it to. I would supply the muzzle break and anything else that would be needed to make it NJ compliant. Or am I better off selling my barrel and getting a new one ? Thanks for any help on this
Joelk 61 Posted May 18, 2011 Send it to ADCO, they do good work with a quick turnaround.
Tactical Monkey 51 Posted May 18, 2011 +1 for adco. Just be sure to tell them precisely what you want done, and include those instructions in the box when yon ship them your upper/barrel
SigSauer229 0 Posted May 18, 2011 I am new to the AR, I know the muzzle break I want, but not much more than that. Is there anything I should be asking for or specific type of threading ??
vjf915 456 Posted May 18, 2011 Or am I better off selling my barrel and getting a new one? That depends on what you want to do with this rifle. If the barrel is currently compliant, then that means it's 16". Adding another 1.5" on will make the overall barrel that much longer. If you want to keep the overall length 16", then get yourself another barrel. If you don't mind having a barrel that's 17.5" instead of 16", then just get your current barrel threaded and have the muzzle brake permanently attached (make sure it's permanently attached before you take possession of it again). Shane45 807 Posted May 18, 2011 How much barrel is there from the muzzle to the start of the flutes?
SigSauer229 0 Posted May 18, 2011 Abount an inch and there's a lip where it seems the muzzle would sit had the barrel been thread
SigSauer229 0 Posted May 18, 2011 Is there anywhere or any good sites I could sell my barrel ? I've only shot 25 rounds through it just to break it in. I don't want a 17.5 barrel. I rather get a 14.5 with a pinned and welded muzzle break to make it legal 16in
