Is there a good choice out there for a lefty 1911?

Every manufacturer makes models with ambi thumb safeties. Even if the model you like does not, a smith can fit one for under 75 usually. Check out the Springfield "Loaded" series, I believe they are all ambi, and come with a lifetime warranty.

My Kimber pro raptor has an ambi and can shoot way better then I can.

taurus also comes with ambi safety, both of mine throw the brass out front which is nice for lefty.

 

A good smith can also tune the ejector to throw the brass out front on any 1911.
