It's funny how calm you can be with a Springfield XD in your hand.

Best of all is the comment that Google bans firearm content from its advertisements. Hypocrites.

How exactly do you figure he's a hypocrite?

Am I a hypocrite because my company won't let me have any political (firearms included) content on my car, since I use it for my job?

What's the difference? Like me, its likely that he had absolutely no say in the policy.

Yep. Corporations are going to play it safe, even Google. It's likely there's more bad press waiting for them in the anti-gun media than there is from those they ban. Like everything else in business, it's just the dollars speaking. If 2A supporters controlled most of the media, the door would swing the other way. Like FOPA/PIPA, Google is going to support politics they feel will help the bottom line.

With that said, I don't support Google when I can help it.

IMO...

Pro 2A people tend to be sane, calm , cool, and collected. We shop and use services for what they are, if they provide good values and make our lives easier. Anti 2A people tend to be more easily disturbed when someone or something goes against their fanatical socialistic utopian ideologies. They are more apt to launch smear campaigns calling for boycotts by purposefully causing defamation of corporate images no matter what the cost to their personal lives are. Companies know this, and tend to side more with the fanatical customer base. Good ole' "squeaky wheel gets the grease" mentality.

google is not playing it safe, they are being activists.

They recently stopped paying affiliates for firearms related stuff, gave Cabelas the snuff, and dropped me as an affiliate for the cabelas program because NJGF "promotes firearms"

Well then, we'll have to hit them in their wallets. I've already been gently mentioning to those I know that it's probably time to wean ourselves off Google-- this just seals the deal for me.

Google is evil. Just like Apple. Problem is I can't stop using either. They are right up there with drug dealers I suppose. Selling a product that once you start using it, you don't want to give it up... oh and its bad for you also.

Issue with Google, and similar companies, is that they make you believe that technology equates progress. And so technology = collective and collective = progress, and anything that creates an imbalance is bad for their bottom-line. Reason why you don't see many tech companies that support the post-modern movement (Toshiba arguably, though I would say they poke fun at it more so). Not that firearms are essential to the post-modern movement, but that individualism is [essential].

Tech in general is moving away from individualism. The whole 'thin client' model was used back in the late 90's, but that was for corporate use-- Here we are again, pushing more data and processing into "the cloud", but this time it's with the data of consumers.

On the surface, it may look like there aren't any good alternatives - but there are many, most base on open source standards!

Just to name a few I use...

Google Search -> duckduckgo.com

Gmail -> Fastmail.fm

Google+ -> well, you don't value you privacy anyway if you participate in social media sites like that ;)

Google isn't the only solution out there, just like Microsoft was't the only operating system a few years ago!

Try this for 1 week:

After a few days you won't miss the stupid maps and pictures as your brain adjusts.

Google is evil.

Maksim, that is some messed up stuff. Not sure why I am surprised, but thanks for the heads-up.
