When someone calls the Police, you can't just not respond, and the dispatcher has to take every call as a face value, accurate account by the caller until the responding unit on scene says otherwise.

The only caveat here that's applicable is "With sufficient force to injure a person". If you take an airsoft projectile to the eye that will certainly cause injury. Certainly the words "You'll put yer eye out" come to mind, but it's the truth. By the same token, the above applies to Powder Actuated Nailers...

 

My Tippmann 98 Custom has sufficient force to injure someone...  is it a firearm by NJ's standards? lol. Man, I don't like this state.

This entire BS-Movement about politicians, and Police-Execs calling out the dangers of toy guns/airsoft is just a pre-configured excuse for shoddy police work. ---In general, if a police person, or any Carry-gun-civilian shoots a child (or adult for that matter) with a toy, they messed-up big, made inacurate assumtions, and need to be held accountable. (Certainly, there are exceptions to this, for example if someone uses a toy to commit a crime, or is somehow threatening someone with a toy.)

Funny you should mention this, I used to work in juvenile corrections, and the VAST majority of kids that came in for armed robbery brandished those during the robbery as an actual handgun. ...and the sad part was most of the ones that did that, didn't know it wasn't a real handgun. Not sure how it wasn't obvious, but they always seem to come in saying they had a handgun, but a few days later say that their Public Defender told them it wasn't a real handgun after all.

Doesn't seem alarmist, states relevant facts that people might not now about Air Soft guns, and gives decent advice.
