In general, new capital is not being put in place because the payback period is so uncertain. Imagine if you put $3M into a machining cell to meet a spike in demand then the government shuts you down six months later before it's even paid for itself.

Whats frustrating is that any and all items are flying off the shelves including handguns. Prices have sky rocketed as a result, including 22 cal long guns,

standard Glock pistols etc.

 

Are manufactures like Glock so scared of the situation that they suspect they wont be able to sell all they make ?

 

Oh well, as first time buyer it sucks to get PPs in hand and not able to buy any or watch prices go up the mountain.

This demand has been a long time coming. I get none could forsee it spiking this hard but manufacturers have been backlogged for countless months. They all left money on the table IMO.

Yep. Its a shame. I got 3 PPs in hand and money sitting for a nice 22 LR, a Glock and something else .

Also wanted to buy a 308, a shotgun and may be an AR.

 

Just now got an email asking if I want to buy an AR stripped lower for upward of 250. The ones I know

sold for about 90.

 

so far I have none to order within reasonable price, if they are available at all.

That is so true! In September, I purchased a 10/22 Takedown for $370 out-the-door including sales tax and NICS locally as a fun little plinking rifle. Well, my wife liked it so much she wanted one of her own. We went back to the same local shop and now the price before tax and NICS is $425! I hopped onto Gunbroker and the things are selling regularly for that and more! Heck, Mrs. NJCK can shoot my 10/22 and I'll just break out my very early Nylon 66! Sheesh.

Its a very hard time for a person who's just getting into the sport. Trying to build a collection now is next to impossible. The government has done its job well.

LOL! Whoops! Sorry! I have to say Rugers have been in serious demand as of late. They've put out some fine products lately being gobbled up like the 10/22 and SR1911. Heck, I've got several of their tanks in my collection (Service and Speed Sixes, SP101s, GP-100s and the 10/22) and I don't consider myself a Ruger guy!

Agree. I wanted a Ruger 22/45 pistol and a 10/22 TD. Oh well, may have to wait ..... and apply for PP again.
