I know it's on here somewhere but I can't find it from my phone so ill ask again. What date does the 30 day wait period start? My permit said I purchased the gun 5/22. I picked the gun up 5/31. Does the 30 day start from the 22 or the 31?

The permit SHOULD have the date you picked up the handgun (upper right).

That is the date you picked it up.  If not, the dealer lied.

The dealer must of lied then. I picked it up the 31. I have it written down in my calendar

Well it's not really a lie. I mean they did sell it to me on the 22. Just had to wait for the "instant" check till the 31 haha

The law says that you can not acquire a handgun within 30 days from the previous.  The date you acquired the handgun is the "Date of Sale".  It does not matter when you pay for it.  If you go by the earlier date that the dealer put on the permit, you run the risk of breaking the law, because the date that the NICS was run is on the 4473 that you signed, as well as the date that you took possession.  Good luck.

i was told 30 days from when i picked mine up. so i'm chomping at the bit while my next purchase sets in the back room on lay away.
