9supratt4 0 Posted January 28, 2014 My grandmother is currently a NJ resident with all valid permits, etc. She has a single handgun. She is going to Florida to her second home and will most likely be selling her NJ home and moving residence to Florida permanently. Can she bring her gun with her? Does she have to do anything special?
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted January 28, 2014 If she is driving she is covered by the 86 FOPA, providing she travels in accordance with its provisions. If she is flying, it's advisable to fly from an airport in PA - not NJ, not NY - and read the TSA regs about flying with firearms. She may want to apply for a FL CCW also - but she can do that while she is there, it's much quicker that way. If she gets it at the FL address she could use it in PA. Adios, Pizza Bob

Adios, Pizza Bob People fly out of Newark all the time with firearms. I'm curious as to what they're covered under though, since the 3rd circuit seems to indicate they are not covered by FOPA. If she's moving I guess that could be a valid exemption?

beltfedmx5 0 Posted February 3, 2014 I just moved from Nj to Florida this week. Drove down with about ten firearms in the trunk. All unloaded and bullets kept separate.
mikeyboyeee 66 Posted February 3, 2014 Tell grandma to bring it down. She has needs to do nothing when she gets here u. She can drive around, with it in her center console or glove box u with no ccw. That That being said getting her ccw should take less then 7 weeks now. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
