Mounting optics on a Glock

Recommended Posts

Anyone have a first hand knowledge of mounting optics on a Glock ? I'm looking for a no modification method. I did come across this product which seems to fit the bill?

Thanks in advance for whatever you can share!

Unity Tactical uses Mike Housel at L&M precision Gunworks to do their milling. He did a slide for me right before the ATOM mount was released. Excellent work, and very affordable. Plus, if you do it on an aftermarket/second slide, there is no modification to the original gun at all - just swap the slide and viola!

thats really neat.. I have considered something like that on my Glock 22... how is the quality on those micro optics.. what has always turned me away is the reliability I have come to expect from Aimpoint..

The Trijicon RMR series (that is an RMR02 8MOA dot) is outstanding. The more recently built ones are even more robust. The quality on par with Aimpoint and outstanding customer service - There was an issue with them holding zero. Trijicon replaced them with the new upgraded version no questions asked. I have no issue carrying that as a self defense gizmo, especially with the suppressor height sights as backup.

I know some guys are running them as primary optics on their rifles as well.

That particular optic was bought used and has been on that slide for almost 2 years, constant on, with the same battery.

ETA: I also know a few guys that have them on their G26/27 and carry them daily.

very interested..

maybe a future project.. I like that it looks like you can still have some good holster options? like does it get in the way at all?

I know you mentioned slight trim.. but I am assuming you meant for the optic.. do the supressor height sights interfere with holsters? I am seriously considering doing this...

sits overly high IMO and will block your iron sights.. the appeal of having a reputable shop do it is they are also installing suppressor sights that sit higher and give you irons AND a red dot... and obviously when the slide is milled you end up with a much nicer looking setup..

Vlad: I do agree that milling the slide and using supressor sights does make for a nicer looking gun and its great to have a red dot and BUIS. But I am just looking to play around with a red dot at the range, I'm not looking to compete with my red-dot glock. What I like about the mount I posted is that is can also be used as a rear sight when the dot is off - it is one or the other.

For me, it's a place to start. If I decide I really like shooting a red dot on my pistols and want to take it another step into high speed competition shooting then I'd consider the cut slide and BUIS combo.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in

    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
