ECsandstar 28 Posted April 19, 2014 Whats up guys. Recently ive been noticing a buildup of what appears to be copper in my Glock barrel. Of course, at first i thought it was excessive carbon fouling but upon further instigation(as well as consulting some guys on the forum here) I have narrowed it down to copper fouling. Just seeing if anyone else had had this problem with any specific ammo? Ive been shooting Rem, Wini, and Herter's Select Grade(aka Sellier & Bellot). Also, what have you guys found to clean copper buildup best? Thanks!!!
Mr.Stu 1,927 Posted April 19, 2014 I've never found and copper build up in any of my barrels. I use Hoppes No.9 and a phosphor-bronze brush which I guess keeps it down.

GRIZ 3,369 Posted April 19, 2014 Hoppes No 9 does the job if you keep up with it. Hoppes also makes a copper solvent which works better. It's important to let the solvent soak for a while. Let the solvent do the work not the brush.
AnthonyG 36 Posted April 19, 2014 Hoppes No.9 Also smells like death, I forgot the one I use but it works as well and has no odor. Ill have to check the bottle.

Smokin .50 1,907 Posted April 20, 2014 ^^I've been known to use Hoppe's #9 for aftershave, lol! A lil' dab behind each ear and the Ladies fall-over passed-out... Saves on buying several bar drinks, lol!
