Looking for a replacement barrel for my Colt 1911...

Recommended Posts

Thanks!!

Any suggestions WHICH 3rd party barrel I should go with?

I'm just a 'casual' pistol shooter, nothing competitive.

Best bet because there are so many. Look at all on those sites. You know your price ranges. Read the reviews of one you think will work.

On the other hand, why do you feel you need to change it?

I bought this pistol used, and the rifling in the original barrel is def worn down some.

Wanted to grab a replacement that does the job just as good as the original.

Wilson combat barrels caught my eye previously, Im guessing for the price they're as good as people say?

Thanks for the correction there T Bill!

Actually it's more that I don't want to change the lines of my series 70.

Any opinions on this? It's multiple posts like this one, that make me want to stay with a genuine colt barrel, or a great 3rd party one.

Don't thin there is truly a bad answer.  It will depend on how much you want to spend and what your priorities are.

Are they on having as true to original as you can?  It is about getting the best shooting/tightest groups?  Is it about getting the best bang for the buck? Or purely the cheapest that will work?

When you say rifling is worn out... how bad does the gun shoot?

As far as brands... Wilson makes quality stuff, Barsto does pretty good barrels,
