So where is Everyone a member of?

But it is soooo worth it.

Since you're familiar with Shongum and Cherry Ridge, how do you think they compare?

The most striking difference is the range officers at Cherry Ridge. In the past, they were strict to the point of down right rude. I did find the new guys better, especially if they got to know you.

Cherry Ridge:

Pros: Plinking range, 200 & 300 yard range, covered pistol range.

Cons: No indoor range, crowded, range officer (aka range Nazi) can be over the top.

Shongum:

Pros: Not crowded, you can shoot cans and clays as long as you clean up after your self, a generally more relaxed atmosphere

Cons: Long walk to pistol range, long waiting list, no plinking range, no cover at pistol range.

The indoor range is the reason I switched to Shongum. I use it a lot and it's great for shooting on rainy days when there is nothing else to do.

I've only been to the indoor at Shongum once, but I don't remember it being a "laned" range. Just a large room with the targets mounted to the back wall and shooting tables that you move closer or further relative to the fixed target positions. It seemed awkward in that all of the shooters have to be shooting from the same distance at any given time, and that the range is either hot or cold for everyone at the same time. I haven't been there for a while, and it may be different now.

Most of the time, I am the only one at the indoor range so going cold is not a problem. Other times, at most there are a couple of people there. We call a target change when needed. My friend at work was at the indoor on Sunday for about a hour and a half and he was the only one there.

I finally bit the bullet today and joined the range named Delaware Valley Sportsman's Center in Philadelphia. It's only about 25 minutes away from my home, and the ammo prices are excellent. They have so many accessories and firearms always in stock and there is always open lanes. If anyone wants to go with me one day, send me a PM.

They will let you fire rifles there, but you can't use the FMJ rounds...You have to use the Ballisti-Clean rounds that break apart. So, you can shoot your own rounds, but not the FMJ rounds. No problem for me since I only shoot shotgun and pistol for now...I have shot the AR-15 the last two times I was there, but it belongs to a friend of mine. Their ammo prices are only about a dollar over the Walmart PA prices if you wish to buy ammo there, and the membership for a year was only $130...I don't really know of many places that can beat that with a $100 renewal fee.

You're right dan, it needs an upgrade badly. But there's a lot of people that use it so it isn't like they don't have money coming in.

It's not THAT bad for your intended purposes. It's bigger than Bullet hole (25 yards compared to 15 yards) and they don't break your b@lls like that old man range officer.
