siderman 1,138 Posted August 13, 2016 My son is down there, just sent a pic of a good sized Spanish Mackeral caught off a pier, nowhere close to a record but was just a few oz's off a "citation" fish, which is a recognition of a exceptional fish, 6 lbs for the Sp Mack. Apparently got a few of the locals stirred up and will be in the local ragsheet publication. Lost a sandle to the ocean running to the pole lol. fishnut 2,358 Posted August 13, 2016 They are allot of fun to catch. I got into a school of big Spanish mackerel off singer island down in FL and that is who I got my wife interested in salt water fishing. it was one fish after another for over an hour and they were all huge. And we do need pics

siderman 1,138 Posted August 18, 2016 I LOVE Emerald Isle! Nice fish too Us too. We spent many weeks down there in rented homes 5 min walk from beach for 1/3 of NJ shore prices. Son was stationed only 25 mins away so he and buds had an escape from base and have some fun. Almost bought a home there....

We had a house on the beach for probably half what you'd pay on the NJ shore. Not only that, the beach is generally pretty empty. And, you can do day trips to Shackleford Island and others to see the horses and grab some shells.
