  1. Boy Scouts laid the foundation for 22 rifles and Shotgun shooting. I had some friends help, I did a lot of self teaching, and I have taken a bunch of classes. I'm now an instructor, going through the instructor training has increased my knowledge. I still enjoy learning and taking classes.
  2. I'd love to see an indoor Rifle range that was 100 yards; I know that makes for a very large building. If you would be looking for and NRA Firearms Instructor I would apply.
  3. The Atlantic county range is a police range that happens to have a couple days where civilians can shoot. The days and hours are limited and you are under the ever watchful eye of the Range officers who scrutinize civilian shooters. If you are LEO then you will be welcomed and you should join. If your civilian you have limited access. Personally; when I join a range I want access and I want to shoot when it's convienient for me.
  4. Real moonshine made in a buddies garage, banana and pumpkin spice flavoring. 100 proof. It's very warm going down and needs to be consumed slowly. This makes me want to make my own. MMMMMM!!!

    Creek water

Water needs to be cleaned and decontaminated. Running water like a creek of river is cleaner then standing water so cleaned isn't as big an issue. I have a pond on my property. I have 5 gallon buckets, some with ceramic filters that drain into the other buckets. The "clean" water is clear of impurities but not bacteria. The second step is to boil, bleach or add tabs to the water to make it safe to drink. I have the items needed to do any of the 3. Its a good idea to know what is up stream from your collection point. In a natural disaster insecticides that are supposed to stay out of streams and rivers may find themselves floating down stream, sewage plants can over flow and your up river neighbors may be pooping in the water.
  6. I have one. It's a nice gun. Easy to shoot. I also use it as my carry gun. 12 round magazines are hard to come by at reasonable prices. You will not be disappointed. If your near Cape May County I'll be happy to show you mine.
  7. I like the lower 1/3 on my AR. My AR has a normal front sight and I feel like the sight is in the way with the true co-witness. If I had flip-up front and rear sights then I probably wouldn't care.
  8. I have a 22/45, reassembly is similar and a pain. You tube videos can be helpful but I think he owners manual does a better job with the steps. If you don't have an owners manual you can find it here: https://ruger-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/_manuals/markI.pdf I copied the pages dealing with reassembly, shrunk them, lamiinated them and keep one set with the gun and one set at my workbench.
  9. I was looking into gunsmithhing as a little side job and did some research. I will share what I found. The online schools give you thhe same certification and people rarely ask where someone went to gunsmithhing school. I have read reviews from people who did attend the schools and they were mostly favorable. You need to speak to gunsmiths and find one who is willing to take on an appentice - I could not find any willing to help me within a 90 minute radius of Cape May; I didn;t expand my search farther. There are more options in your neck of the woods so perhaps you will have better luck. You can get an FFL to wok out of your home, many have and still do. PK90 started his business in a spare room, Jersey Small Arms Gunsmith runs out of his home. Just a couple examples. If you are retiring another option is to actually go to a gunsmithing school. I hope to retire by the end of the week and go to gunsmithing school (gotta win the lottery first). Good luck.

    New aquisition

Congrats. Nice purchase. I picked up a S&W 5906 a few years back, it's a nice shooting gun. The down side to my 5906 is that the all steal construction makes the thing heavy and annoying to carry.
  11. I have Utah; when I get to PA or DE I carry. I have my carry gun on my right at the 4:30ish position, IWB holster. I carry my spare mag on my left side, 9:00, usually in an old cell phone vertical flip case. I've done the shoulder holster as well so the gun and mags are cross-drawn but I like the IWB better.
  12. Throw me on the list. I've got the day off, extra money and approval from the wife. Winning!!
  13. I'm always interested in training and I think this sounds like a good idea. Like always, date and location are the major factors. Tuckerton would work for me.
  14. Crusher: Red Wing Sporting Clays South Jersey Shooting Club is a great range. If I lived in the area your moving to, I would re-join SJSC, it's simply too far from my home. IDK if they are still in business but you may want to check out Hutton Hill. USANA, Cumberland Rifleman, Mullica Hill Rifle and Pistol are options but all are a distance. AVOID the Atlantic County range!
  15. Nice score, congrats. I have a bolt action Marlin that I am fond of. Sometimes you just want a nice gun and all the accessories don't matter. Enjoy.
  16. I would say its a no-go. (4) A flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; and
  17. Can one buy a piece of bent rebar, if not how does one bend it? I appreciate this thread, I want to spend income tax return money on a generator and now I know where I wan it and how to secure it. I'm going to do something like the doghouse on a concrete slab. Should I run wire through a pipe into the little house?
  18. you can shorten the grip of the G34 to fit G19 mags, It's an option....not one I would do but an option non the less.
  19. I have an Arisaka that was converted to 30-06 and placed in a Remington stock. It is my hunting rifle and is a great gun. The Arisaka receiver is increadibly strong so it will take anything you want to give it. The face of the bolt doesn't have a lot of room to work with so cartrages with a base in the 30-06 or 308 range are ideal. I like the manlicher stocks. Perhaps a manlicher stock with a 243. Maybe a creakote of all the metal that compliments the wood and some peep sights.
  20. I did the FID and DL and got approved quickly. I had the 22 in my cart and couldn't check out. Vlad: When I'm going to the range to put holes in paper I want the cheapest ammo I can find, I don't care about mixed loads. When I am competing I want the same ammo for consistency. All of my 22's cycle anything except the Zip 22, that likes Remington Thunderbolts. So a mixed bag for plonking was going to be great for me.
