  1. I personally wouldn't consider shooting it if I gave my word that I wouldn't. I honor my word, no exceptions.
  2. The falling back on the states' rights issue is pure drivel. The bill is not stating that NJ has to allow NJ subjects to be allowed CCW, it just allows US Citizens to travel freely in NJ. This would not impact NJ laws pertaining to NJ subjects.
  3. I have a bunch of 45's including 1911's and Glocks. I personally find the Glock 21 to be softer shooting than my 1911's.
  4. It is a shame that a US citizen even has to worry about traveling with a tool into states like NJ and getting arrested for merely possessing. Here in VA a non-CCW gun owner can ride with their loaded gun loaded on them in the car (on person, in glovebox, on seat, etc) and it is not a crime. We also have Constitutional Open Carry. I live out in the sticks so I see open carry a lot.
  5. I made a call. I see no reason to found out "the rest of the story". I will support any gun owner caught up by BS NJ gun laws. It only took 15 seconds to make the call.
  6. I said it was a hunting accident and the kid who shot was standing next to him. The lower part of the leg was torn off at the calf. Don't tell me I didn't see what I saw.
  7. I have seen the aftermath of a hunting accident that high brass waterfowl loads will blow a person leg off. There is even more power in turkey loads, 2oz of lead at 1300-1400 fps is no joke. Not optimal, but not underpowered in a HD situation.
  8. Unfortunately, I believe that you are very correct. First of this type of attack in the US that I recall. This changes/negates all current security plans.
  9. Never underestimate people based upon looks. At least they were doing something to prepare...
  10. A person cannot train to do that, they are born that way.

    KSG-25

I have a Gen 2 KSG and love it. Good luck with the big boy version.

    Dan Wesson 44

    I love Dan Wesson revolvers. I have a Model 15-2 and a 14-2. Barrels 6", 4" 2.5". Been looking for a deal on a 44.
  13. OP, you need to stop thinking NJ if you want to survive in a free state. Mail them to yourself, no middle man. There is no reason to involve an FFL to transfer guns that belongs to you. The gun are your property. In free America I can hand a gun to a friend and say "it's yours". I can also trade my guns without any paperwork. I like to document transactions for my own protection, but I don't have to.
  14. RIP, He really did liven up this forum.
  15. Most states do not ask that question. I did a search of the common states for CCW and found that NH is the only that asks if you have ever been turned down. Are NJ people really that afraid? With that attitude NJ will never have a chance of getting CCW unless the challenge comes from out of state like a Supreme Court decision based upon another state that is similar.
  16. Although I no longer have a dog in the NJ fight I sill cannot see why there isn't a mass application in NJ for carry licenses. The statistics don't look bad if nobody applies. In addition, how can you sue the state for not allowing CCW that hasn't denied you anything? Saying that there is a de facto ban on carry licenses has no impact if the numbers don't agree.
  17. I really like the big Ruger Blackhawk single actions. 45 Colt has been my latest obsession. I like the Blackhawk and Old Model Vaquero because I can load plinking cowboy loads to loads that rival the 44 Magnum. This can't be done with any of the other single actions. I mostly load plinking loads but my 4 5/8" Blackhawk has become my working in the yard gun due to a black bear sow and her cubs.
  18. DC residents will be carrying before NJ, let that sink in...
  19. I would never send any of my 3-screw Blackhawks to Ruger for service. They will install a transfer bar. I have 3-screw and New Model Blackhawks and the trigger in the New Models are nowhere near as good as the unmodified 3-screw models. I just always "load 1, skip 1, load 4" The hammer ends up resting on the empty chamber.
  20. +1. I did the same when we moved.
  21. Nice, I have the same 3 screw .357 Blackhawk but from 1967.
  22. Are you saying that you wouldn't clean up after shooting? Regardless of whether or not you are reloading you should still be picking up brass to not leave a mess for others to deal with.
  23. Breed specific rescues are a really good option. After losing both of my Australian Cattle Dogs (17yrs and 15yrs) in the past two years we found our new ACD through an ACD rescue. He is about three years old. I was hesitant at first, but I have to say that the is the easiest dog I have ever had. No puppy stage to go through. Overall a great dog.
  24. I received a Boyds stock on an M1 from the CMP years ago. I hate that stock. It was stained with a walnut stain and had no finish on top. The wood grain was raised from the stain. The worst part is the stock was birch with a shitty walnut stain job, not what I wanted. I sanded the stain off and used raw linseed oil. I ended up buying a surplus walnut stock set.
