  1. LOL I just got here. I am gonna buy a few handguns and maybe a rifle or two while we get our stuff together. Sometime later this year hopefully we will start building on our 30 acres, and once I am set on my own land and house where I plan to be for long time, I will hopefully get the process rolling for a SBR AR i've always wanted and a suppressor for it (and maybe a few extra for things I have now). Hopefully in two weeks I am putting the order in for a Sig P226 MK25 . Beautiful gun, I've always wanted one, and great deal being offered. I am also very interested in a 1911 and came close to being swayed to go for a Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded Stainless... but I want a TRP and can't afford one, I simply can't wait anymore, I want to buy my moving to FL present. So I am going for a Sig MK25 and can try to slowly save for a TRP .. because I'd love the Loaded for a day or two and then resent it for not being what I really wanted... but can't wait to put some pics of the Mk25 up when I get it.
  2. Saiga 12's for the US come from the factory in "Sporting configuration" to meet US Importation law, which includes a "sporting" stock aka a standard shotgun stock. When I bought mine in Nov '12, I was fortunate enough to get one "from the back" of the store still sealed in the factory (absolutely dirt cheap) cardboard box. Wrapped in the plastic yellow wrap, all new.... straight up stock. This is due to the import laws requiring firearms imported into the USA to be sporting in nature and have a sporting purpose. The Saiga-12 is often "converted" to its original configuration once it's here but in the state of NJ, as stated and unlike the rifles, you can't have *any* of the evil features not a combination or certain amount of them. Pistol grip is a banned feature so while you can have a S-12 /w 5 round magazine and conventional stock in NJ you cannot put a pistol grip at all. I just moved to FL and am in the process of getting my head and monies together for the conversion process... there are just so many things both real world and gun world to spend money on first . oh and about the Benelli M4- it does have a pistol grip but does not have a detachable magazine which is why it could pass importation law w/ the pistol grip. But up until just recently , Benelli did not make a conventional stock M4 which is why there was almost none in NJ (a few people spent big big bucks to buy them out of state, bought an expensive conventional stock, have them installed, and then transferred here legally). When I bought the S-12 in early early Nov '12 , Benelli didn't make the M4 w/ the conventional stock (they do now). I MIGHT have gone that route because it is an amazing shotgun, but so is the S-12. I might be one of the lucky ones who has never had a speck of problems with my S-12, but it's an amazing shotgun. Maybe not as "sexy smooth" as the Benelli but I got the best of both worlds IMHO, I got my Italian fix w/ a SuperNova Tactical and my "assault shotgun" fix w/ the S-12.
  3. So I just called Colt because I wanted to know what the deal is exactly. They said that the change is "and only is" it won't say whatever it said previously, Colt Marine Pistol? and have that NSN marking thing, it will have M45A1 on it and that is it. (I am not sure how true it is I am just saying what Louis at Colt Customer Service just told me.) He also told me I could get one simply by ordering from a Colt dealer, and I specifically asked, "Are they going to say "can't get them" or what?" and he says, they definitely are available and filling all orders, just a 6-8 month wait. (and of course they're expensive). TIFWIW.
  4. Very classy- I also like that gun, its on my list but not high on it, but on the list definitely. I got my Italian sickness started with a Benelli SuperNova SteadyGrip ("Tactical Turkey") in March 2010, sold it because it wasn't 100% what I wanted, but finally cured the sickness with the Benelli SuperNova Tactical I stole from somebody who sold it to Tanners, and I got it brand new/"used" for $329. The Italians are so smooth and sexy compared to my Mossberg, Remington, and Saiga it's not even funny. Would love me a 92FS Inox some day.
  5. I saw this over the weekend ... I will need to send mine in. But to be honest, I am sort of glad. To be 100% truthful, there has been an issue with my Remington 700 AAC-SD .308 since I bought it. I have had trouble chambering rounds, it's not smooth at all and sometimes difficult going in/coming out. I have read on many internet forums that it is a very common problem with the AAC-SD model, they believe it was in the hinged-floorplate assembly- the little "spring" (piece of metal bent in a z-shape) is not working with the follower to let the chambering work properly. I had contacted Remington and asked for a new assembly or spring or follower or whatever they recommended- they wanted it sent in and checked and said it would be 16 weeks minimum. Sort of sucks with a brand new rifle. I knew I was going to get a new stock and as I searched for new stocks I quickly realized I wanted a detachable magazine type. I went from many many different options and wound up with the best and a Manners Composite Stock MCS T5A DBM - which is a dream and dropped in magically, tightened up to the correct torque with a proper in-lb wrench and magic... but the problem did not go away. And I tried to pretend it was no big deal but- with this recall I figure I can kill two birds with one stone, if it has to go back anyway I might as well have the problem addressed. And as I have moved to FL and we have 30 acres of land here, and when we build the house we will also be eventually setting up a 600-yd-range, and I plan on using the rifle a lot (but not for a year or two realistically) I really have plenty of time. It just sucks that they said it was FINE, no problems, all good, and suddenly they change their minds.
  6. I really want one of these. Awesome. This and a Springfield TRP are my dream carry pieces.
  7. This is an amazing deal. .. seriously I am wishing I could do this, as I just moved to FL and want(ed) to buy a gun immediately as a moving present. But you'd be surprised how many other things you "need" when you move. And that doesn't count $615 on new prescription Oakley eyeglasses, plus the need for contact lenses and eventually sunglasses as well lol. So many things, so little money to spend on them all. but i have ALWAYS wanted this exact bad mama jama and its an outstanding deal.
  8. Look at that bad mofo. Very very nice. Since this thread went up I got another 597... for my Dad. He actually lucked himself into an arguably nicer version, the DSG combo 597 HB. It has a black stock, heavy barrel (and it's HEAVY compared to the regular barrel, you can see it and definitely feel it). .. We immediately put the upgraded Volquartsen parts in it, replaced the combo package "Remington" 3-9x32mm scope with a sweet Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 4x32mm Nikoplex scope and then blasted away at the range. Amazing really. Lots of fun. I am very happy with my pair of 597s and wouldn''t get rid of them for anything short of catastrophic emergency (and desperation for cash ).
  9. I really wanted to add one of these to my original Zastava PAP and the 10 mags I lucked into. I spent money on a Benelli SuperNova Tactical that could have gone here but... Benelli need just trumped this, Italian sexy smoove stylin son!

    Mossberg 930

RF I definitely would not choose to argue with you but I would beg to differ here, it is my understanding it is in fact illegal to have that +7 shell tube aka a magazine for a firearm, if you were to own a shotgun it can be installed on. I cannot find the passage I am looking for at the present moment but is there not a "readily available" clause that states if you are somewhere where something in firearms (Such as magazines in this instance but I believe can be applied to a collapsible stock, flash hider, etc.) and you own the firearm and in fact own the device is illegal, you are committing a felony because you have the device readily available and can install it on your firearm, thus committing the felony. This came up on this very board in Feb 2010 I believe. As I have detailed and has been discussed many times, I was the first (on the forum and perhaps in NJ) to own a Mossberg 930 SPX, as the gents at the PA Dick's Sporting Goods told me ( who had just got my FID and was brand new to gun buying etc.) as long as my license matched my FID I could buy guns in PA and bring them to NJ and that shotguns were all no problem for NJ...and I happily bought the M930SPX on site. I got back, posted on here, showing off ,and everyone started saying ITS ILLEGAL ITS ILLEGAL YOU'RE IN TROUBLE! I then had Choate overnight me a +1 magazine to replace the +3 and everyone further said, you need to get that +3 in the garbage because if you keep it, it's a readily-available high capacity magazine which can be installed on your shotgun and it's a felony. So I threw it out. In fact I was just literally looking to order one, as I am now moved to Florida. I can also order the Choate pistol-grip stock for the 930 now, but I prefer the conventional stock w/ the Mossberg safety, another discussion tho. --- ANYWAY,I mean no disrespect nor antagonism but simply want to get to the bottom of this.

    Which 45 to get?

If only the Glock 1911 was real lol... Right now I am also scheming on a .45 ... I just moved to FL, hopefully get my FL drivers license tomorrow ..and then as soon as I can save up the money woohoo! I am really really considering the Para Black Ops 14.45 ... 14 round, double stack 1911 with premium-combat level refinements and addons. I am really liking it. There is also a Sig P226 MK25 locally... I always wanted one but it's 9mm... not a problem but... I would prefer the new Mk25 Desert which the gent said he could order me.
  12. My Savage Mark II is a "GXP" model from Dick's Sporting Goods... DSG features the GXP across the nation. G = wooden stock (which people deride as plain and basic and yes, it is compared to the nicer and much more expensive models, but it's extremely nice to me, features rich color and awesome checkering etc.) and XP= Combo Rifle package with scope. I got it on sale from $199.99 to $149.99. I bought a Nikon ProStaff 4-12x40mm (when that was the top of the line ProStaff, which has since been rebranded and there's a ton of new ProStaffs) and all I did was this- remove the rings by unscrewing them. Took off the included Bushnell 3-9x40mm , put on the ProStaff. I centered it and adjusted it for eye relief and how it felt for my body when I got behind it, then I simply put the rings back on , screwed them down, and boresighted it with a laser. Real easy. Then I zeroed at the range. Are the rings and mounts it came with probably dirt cheap ones, yep. Absolutely. Is my scope more expensive than the rifle? Also yep. And the result is an amazingly accurate rifle with an awesome scope, all the scope I need and more, and it was super simple to do. *ALSO* If you buy from places like DSG, if you buy a scope in store or even wait and buy online when you can get their best deal or use a discount code, you can take it into their stores and make them mount and boresight for free (Which is nice cause they've got the professional equipment if you don't [or i don't etc.] ... top notch boresighter, nice vices and rifle rests, etc.).
  13. You will regret it in the near to mid future if you DON'T buy an AR. Trust me. I remember reading those exact words in early 2010 and thinking, Yeah whatever, you don't know me and you probably don't know $@*$ anyway. Sure as sugar, I soon blew the money on other guns and lusted for an AR. Even now, I went AR-less awhile back and tried to pretend I made a conscious decision to get out of ARs but, I still secretly want one.

    Mossberg 930

I have an original model M930SPX that I got I believe first week of February 2010, Super Bowl Sunday morning. I was lucky to be sold one accidentally in PA and had to replace the mag tube immediately when I found out it wasn't supposed to be sold to NJ buyers. My favorite overall firearm- absolutely flawless and has not misfired or malfunctioned or "jammed" in a hundreds if not 1000s of rounds. And yes as mentioned, the recoil should be noticeably less because the 930 uses the "extra/spent" gas from the shell firing to actually work the action of the gun, and that actually helps mitigate the recoil by acting as a counter-force forward ( i am not sure if my explanation makes sense but it is paraphrased of course.) I also mounted a LimbSaver on my M930SPX and my other guns- LimbSaver CHANGES EVERYTHING. Highly highly recommended.
  15. LOL I thought I did say that. And for the Mossberg 590A1 recommendation, I agree it's a great great gun. I got my Mossberg fix at the moment in my M930SPX. I am pretty lucky so far, I have a decent shotgun collection in my M930SPX, 870 Tac/Magpul/P , Saiga-12, and Benelli SNT. A 590A1 is my last real want in shotguns (other than say having all the Benellis like an M2 Tactical, and M3, and an M4. But that just ain't happening).
  16. I have both of those exact guns. I love the 870 as I meticulously worked on it to not only install every Magpul SGA 870 piece but also every 870P Police upgrades... its probably a $1200 gun now, its nice. And I have that exact Benelli SuperNova Tactical, its easy 2x nicer and its not close, trust me. 870s get TONS of reputation points that come from history, reputation, popularity etc. Benelli is Ferrari and Lamborghini to Remington's GM. Corvettes are sweet and The Great American Sports Car but they dont touch the Italians in the least. Trust me as I mean no disrespect nor disregard but the SNT is so much nicer.
  17. I actually busted out laughing at that forearm picture. Hilarious. Nicely nicely done.
  18. Congrats bro... very nice. Ive recently been on a big P90 kick myself so this is very cool for me. Shoot em in health
  19. I just want to point out this. .. Some people swear by Police Trade Ins... other times you will find a lot of horror stories. First , an example out 870s. There was a deal about a year or so back for 870P police tradeins for like $179. Everyone was like "Oh they're great they just sit around and don't get touched they're practically new." A lot of that statement can be true... some DO in fact just sit around, collecting dust dirt lint and the like inside, some get their finishes ruined being removed from police cruisers/gunlocks/trunks/etc.. and more to the problem- often times police armorers will take all the "good parts" from a lot of potential trade ins, cannibalize them as best they can, then install the good stuff in THEIR keepers, and submit the now-terribly-bamboozled shotguns for the trade-ins. They may or may not get fully checked or replaced or maybe they get a once-over and "function' but you're getting old, possibly corroded, or even broken internals with damaged-finish externals etc. With police service weapons especially like Glocks, you can have similiar if not worse problems. There are many officers who treat their weapon like their life and care for it... And there are others who simply leave it the heck alone. And twice a year or whatever they take it out, shoot their quals, and put it back in the holster. When they take it out at the range, stuff falls out the barrel and the slides unleash more lint, dirt, tissue fibers etc. when the gun is fired and the slide racks. So you really have to be careful. I don't want to pick on anybody nor dissuade anyone for the purchase- just provide info I have firsthand from years of hanging out with the armorers who worked for my Dad's dept. and even reading this same info from reputable sources online.
  20. I like the accupoint but the 5-20x50 runs out of adjustment to make 1000 yds apparently. For just a little bit more, check out the SWFA SS line http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-HD-5-20x50-Tactical-30mm-Riflescope-P51653.aspx This is a great value and supposed to be a very big name mfgr in a SWFA package for huge value. Bipod is easy. For 100 choose Harris. Most popular is the 6"-9" S-BRM ( Often written wrongly as the BRMS) .. I have it on my customized 700 and love it.
  21. it looks awesome, and Sako is amazing. I really wish I bought a Sako TRG in .308 when I could and had the money. Sako is the bomb and I suspect though have not shot that the Quad is amazing as well. It's just .... A LOT OF MONEY. You could go out and buy a Savage rifle in .22LR, .17 HMR, and .22Mag , and get one of high quality, and put scopes on them all, and probably buy 5 magazines for each, and have money to buy something else before you spent the same on the Quad. PLUS, the 4th, what is it, 17 mach 2 or something? I doubt that is going to get shot all that much. I ADMIT, from a purely Survival & Preparedness perspective which I am very into, having those calibers is useful but at what price? now if you're independently wealthy and can just have whatever you want, I highly recommend it... and in that case, hows about hookin me up too brah?
  22. $314 now.... I wanted one but on general principle , hells no. First they raise the price, Then they raise it again??? BS IMHO.
  23. http://www.precisionsalesintl.com/ ^ These are the US Distributors of LPA Ghost Ring Sights from Italy and also some other stuff. Check their website out. The owner guy is the nicest and easiest to talk to guy in firearms, I mean, he spent an hour back in Dec. 2010 with me explaining stuff and telling me my options, his suggestions, what NOT to spend my money on etc. (I had wanted to buy the "night sight" GRS apertures and the fiber optic ones and swap based on my "mission" that day etc. He explained how it's not like that, you need to install one and keep it because it's not plug and play install PLUS he gave me my options and the suggestions he had based on years of both trial and error/experience/etc. He was a great guy. I have the rear Fiber Optic for my M930SPX that matches the front Fiber Optic post it came with, green rear red front. I love it. And the Aimpoint now can be used on the 870 which as I said has lesser sights.
