  1. I bought the 625 from James Taylor (yup!) from Shore Shot. He gave me a LOT of plastic and metal moon clips with it, plus a TON of ammo pre-loaded into the clips. He made his own tool to remove the brass from the clips. I see that Brownells sells the moon clips and the shell removal tools. Lemme tell you, the tool he made from a plastic pipe t-fitting works perfectly!
  2. I just bought a 625 with a 6" barrel from one of the guys at Shore Shot. I actually love those moon clips. Have them in plastic and metal. The metal clips are tight to put new rounds in, but they work just fine. I also have a 686 with a 6" barrel. Love both of those guns! Shooting .38 Special is very mild, then comes the .45 ACP, the .357 Magnum is a whole 'nother story! My arm is still sore a day later after 38 rounds!
  3. I'm with Ant, you come in my house you better like the look of one of my 12 gauges as you watch the muzzle blast! I will not use any of my handguns or rifles for home defense. While the wife is dialing 911 and getting HER shotgun ready to back me up, I have 7 rounds of buckshot to use. I certainly do not want to ever have to use it for that purpose, will be a hell of a mess to clean-up later too. I will be prepared though.
  4. Here is what the gun starts-off as: Here is what it can easily be made into: I actually have one of each now and LOVE those rifles!
  5. Wasn't us! We left around 7:30, place was pretty busy today.
  6. Another plus for Ron @ Legacy Firearms in Wall. Have dealt with him a lot, wish he was closer to my house! I told him to get on this site, he said he has enough business right now, needs more spare time to go shooting! He has at least 200 rifles/handguns in stock, some new, most used, some real collector stuff too. Check his website, everything is listed on it. He has beat Buds prices everytime I have ordered something from him.
  7. I wanted a semi-auto rifle that was cheap and fun to shoot. I bought a Saiga 7.62x39 from Paul (PK90) in South Jersey. He sells the ammo for about $3.50 a box (15 per). I have paid as little as $200 for 880 rounds. That ammo is all-over the place, check it out. The rifle is cheap too, less than $500. The base rifle looks very plain. I just bought the same rifle that was converted with a pistol grip (among other things) and it looks 100% different! This type of rifle is far less money to buy and far less money to shoot than the AR stuff (unless you have a .22 AR).
  8. Another edit for this club: They offer Trap Shooting twice a week for the public, no membership required. It takes place on Sunday and Tuesday night. Tuesday is 6:30 to 9:00 with a strict curfew due to neighbors. Not sure of Sundays hours, believe it starts at 1:00, need to check on the hours... Anyway, it is $4 per round for non-members, $3 per round for members. It is a "real" Trap range, 5 stations, 5 shots per station with an automated launcher.
  9. Shore Shot has a large collection of rentals and an even LARGER inventory of new guns, plus a LOT of used guns not on display. I am glad I asked about the used stuff because I found a revolver I had been looking for since I got my first permit!
  10. Phil is THE MAN! My buddy and I went to Shore Shot today for the first time. the guys in the place were VERY friendly, VERY helpful, and gave me the NJGF discount and let me shoot my 7.62x39 which only members are susposed to do. I thank them for that! Met Phil and talked for quite sometime, we were the only two shooting there for about an hour. Phil is VERY helpful and knows a TON about guns, shooting, re-loading, you name it! Nice to have him walking around and talking to people, making sure they know what they're doing (we're not all pros, especially me!) The only thing he doesn't know squat about is how to get back onto this website! He doesn't even know there is a thread about him on here, something is wrong with his login. Hopefully that gets resolved soon so he can get back on here and see the positive things people are saying about him and Shore Shot. He is just happy to help and will be tickled-pink once he sees all the positive remarks being left about him.
  11. Maybe all the gun owners with carry permits in PA should organize a march and parade-around the city displaying their handguns on their hips!
  12. Nice! I am curious about the muzzle brake. Is that a typo above, you said AK74 chrome-lined brake? Hate to sound like too much of a newbie, but what exactly does the muzzle brake do for you?
  13. almiz111, are you going to leave us hanging or will you translate what you typed? My daughter and I know a little German, and very little Spanish, but not enough. I have an employee that is fluent in both so I will ask him to translate that for me manana
  14. Went there today (EB store) but they had just about nothing left except for shotgun shells. Their sale two weeks ago for shotgun shells was better, $4.88 per box, I bought 5 cases. That was a really good sale!
  15. South River once again, this time for the wifey. Started process on March 17th, got her FID and 2 P2P's today, so 63 days total. Now, some was our fault, took sometime to get free time for fingerprinting, she has a "normal job" unlike me. Killed a week with the references too.
  16. They actually let people discuss things here unlike the Firing Line. I got a one week ban from those clowns, jeez..... Hey, slightly off-topic but then again slightly on-topic, IF this state ever allowed us "second-class" citizens to carry, would you rather carry open or concealed? Don't fall-off your chair laughing, I know it won't happen anytime soon, if-ever, just posing the question. I don't think wearing a badge to prove you are legit to carry open in PA would work, a black market would simply arise for fake badges.
  17. Ha! I needed a cheap gun case and found that one at Dicks Sporting Goods! My shotguns won't fit unless I take the barrels off, but it was great for my shorter guns.

    First Handgun!!!

I wasn't factoring the cost of ammo in, to me it doesn't matter. Finding a gun that you like, can handle well, and can hit the targets with is all that matters to me. If it costs .02 a shot or .50 a shot, I'll still shoot 100 rounds at a time. Not everyone has that luxury though.
  19. Yes, I have heard the stories about buying something from them not in stock, and I know for certain that more than one is true, not just hearsay. But...........as far as somewhere to shoot, I love it there. Well-lit, decent air handling (some place have NOTHING to move the air around), automated target retrieval, range does not come to a stop for target changes. Not a lot of handguns for rental, but there are several. I only go there to shoot, not to rent nor buy. They don't seem to have much of a limit as far as what they allow you to shoot. We have had our AR's and AK-variants there, no problem. A guy was hammering targets at 25 yards with a 30-06. What other indoor places allow rifles like that?
  20. Vlad G, I agree with your #2 above, that is exactly how I was lining-up the target yesterday, and I did pretty damn good at 10 yards! That was also under very good lighting conditions. The other range I went to does not have the same lighting as Brick Armory and was VERY difficult to see what the hell I was aiming at. Trying to line-up a black rear sight, a thin black front sight, and a black target in dim lighting, well, quite frankly I sucked at it! There was NO light coming through either side of the front site, EVERYTHING was black! I would have thought I was the worlds worst shooter if I hadn't brought the same gun and same ammo to another range and proved to myself that I actually could shoot. I told my buddy I would have been better off throwing the damn gun at the target the first night out!

    First Handgun!!!

Nice. I don't buy the small caliber for first handgun purchase theory though. My first was a 1911 from SA, I love it! Yeah, first time out I stunk. 50 rounds later I was doing nearly perfect with it, piece of cake! Enjoy it and decide what you'll get next in 30 days! I have my next two sitting in my FFL's safe.
  22. Did you really go to college? Actually did some medical school? You type as if you are a teenager. Please, act your age. I don't recall seeing ur in any dictionaries buddy, it is your. I won't bother to pick-apart the rest of your typing above, I'd rather go walk my dog.
  23. I don't know why people are hell-bent against Brick Armory, whaatever. I've been there three times so far and have nothing but good things to say about them. Anyway, they do have an AR there for rent. As I was leaving yesterday a fellow was being shown by Phil how to operate it, he was renting it, suprised that they had 30 round mags in it too. After my friend shot my AK-variant he may get one. For the price of the gun and the price of the ammo, it is a deal!
