  1. IF the media has it right, the Shooter is history! All he had to do was issue a double tap to the center of mass as he was RETREATING away from the robber with the sharp scissors, a la IDPA and he's probably O-K. Wallmarts have security cameras. If this schmuck chased-down the bad guy to get his money back and executed the bad guy on camera, well then..........GOOD-BYE!
  2. Sounds about right to me! Maybe the guys at the Legion and/or Boy Scouts would scrape up a few bucks to pay the Power Co.?
  3. I remember some news story of a douche throwing frozen turkey off of an overpass and THROUGH a woman's windshield. The woman was either killed or needed a new face. The rock thrower won't be throwing any more rocks from overpasses. The cross bow guy was a little over the top, but given the circumstances, maybe should only get probation as well as the usual "no more weapons" order on his rap sheet. If the rock thrower's family is smart, they'll sue the cross bow guy and he'll need to be outside earning an income to make good on the suit. Hopefully he won't lose his house over it. That's punishment enough in my book....... Dave
  4. My Mom had a fire in the basement years ago. Hiring a Public Adjuster was the best thing we ever did! Lots of water & smoke damage in a finished basement apartment complete with kitchen & bath. That adjuster got her a ton more money than the Insurance Co. wanted to pay. It's all in the details as far as contents are concerned. The Adjuster knows how much money it costs to replace things--they keep up on that stuff, so you don't have to do all of the homework! And you don't have to find all of the receipts for everything you lost either! A good Adjuster is worth their weight in Gold! What's covered by what policy varies from Co. to Co., and the Adjuster can work with the Insurance Co. to get your friend the Max they deserve. Some policies will pay for a trailer to be dropped on the front lawn during repairs, so you can be there to watch the workmen work to make sure everything is done right! An Adjuster rounds everything UP and the Insurance Co. likes to "bundle" things together, like "American Pickers"! Dave
  5. Was there today shooting shotgun with the Tuesday Crew. Couple small limbs approx. 1-2 inches wide knocked-down around the turn in the Pit area near Pit #1. Other than that and the trim around the back pits that's needed anyway, we're fine. So we really came out of it pretty good at the Outdoor. Don't know anything about the Indoor, but no news is good news Harry! Dave
  6. I can understand the frustration! The article didn't say US Rifle, just that it was from WWII, so it could be Japanese or German too! PROOF that IF you want to really do a job right, reach for a real gun, .30 cal or better! 2 shots in the middle of the night, 2 hits, 80 years old: Maybe his punishment should be to teach the cops how to shoot without 30 round magazines (and hit what they aim for), LOL! I know a cop who blew away a fire siren with a .38 snubby that went off right over his head for every call. Talk about frustrating and can't hear yourself think! Chief had what was left of the slug sent to the NJSP crime lab for forensic evaluation. NO result--not enough of the slug in one piece by the time the fan blades got a hold of it! Only in NJ! Dave
  7. The day after a hurricane may be a little impetuous, no? Most folks are still pumping-out, repairing fence, removing debris, fixing leaks, etc. Your sight change may not be possible even if the regular posted hours of operation include Mondays......but good luck to you anyway!
  8. Maybe instead of trying to shoot there, you bring some tools and show-up to help with the clean-up? Just call someone first to make sure you can get in......
  9. I guess you're ready for a semi? A heavier gun won't kick as much. Rub your shoulder a little and be thankful you didn't have to shoot untold boxes of buck & slugs in a single match....... NICE target though & glad you had some fun! Dave
  10. Schmuck? No, it would have to be only two feet away!
  11. I grew up in South River and went to Willett School as well as the Jr. High. Nice town. Have relatives there on my Sister in-law's side. Nice Pizza Joint on Main Street.
  12. Interesting for sure! Did you plan on staying??
  13. And if you think that the PD is worried about your permits with a hurricane on the way, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell ya!
  14. Cool Beans! See you soon! This weekend looks like a wash-out. Next weekend lots of stuff to shoot or watch--check the club calendar like Harry & Mike said!
  15. Nice job Harry! Couldn't have done better myself! And to the OP: Have fun & be SAFE. Our next Sign-Up & Safety Check is on Sunday 9-11-11. Starts PROMPTLY at 9:00 am, so get there a little EARLY. You'll need your NJ FID Card, proof of NRA membership and your checkbook. Also bring a hand gun and some ammo for it (unloaded). You're free to visit the Outdoor Range during posted League events (see calendar on the web). Bring Eyes & Ears so you can watch how much fun we have. Or jump-in like Harry did, it's your choice! Just pay the Non-Member rate to shoot the event. Event details are available on the web. Welcome to the club (a little early). Dave
  16. You could always give em' a call. That way, if something happens in through the door, they know who to call.... Used inventory changes really fast. I've seen stuff get booked-in & out on the same day!
  17. Registration will still be open. Hope you can make it. Loaner equipment will be available. Dave
  18. Glenn I'm with you 100% on this one! Go back in time to a B+W movie featuring the trials of the M-1 Garand for the "War Department". It was laid-down in a trough of muddy water, sloshed around, picked-up and then tilted muzzle-down to clear itself, and then loaded & fired with a en-block clip (yes a CLIP) of ammo for the Army Generals present at the Trials. This is for all of the peashooter guys, not you Glenn: When the INFERIOR M-9 was adopted I cried. And then the FBI murders happened! Bad Guys took too long to bleed-out & DIE from their "lethal" wounds with the 9mm round! To this day, serious men with serious jobs reach for the .45 ACP when the SHTF! Seals, Rangers, HRT's, SWAT, as well as anyone allowed to carry what they want all reach for the .45! I wonder why that is????????
  19. Glad you're having fun! I've never really even wanted to try anything but real black, since I love the smell and the clean-up to me is just part of the fun of it. Any chance we'll get to shoot together at the big event in Old Bridge on the 24th of next month? Seems that there is only a handful of guys shooting the holy black on this forum. Most others are kids learning how to crawl, worried about what their second or third gun is going to be, LOL! And can you put a Tac Rail on it with a flashlight? OMG!
  20. There's a private one in Villas. Bayshore Sportsman Club. Not sure about others. I think most PD's down there use the County Range. You might call one of the larger sporting goods stores in the area. You might have to travel up to Egg Harbor area to go to a Range. Good luck! Dave
  21. Big flash & lots of noise makes the women flinch. A wadcutter or 2 where it counts is still better than a flashy noisy miss...
  22. Ed is known as the best stock-bender around. He custom bends shotgun & rifle stocks so that they fit the user better. Trap shooters know him well.
  23. So did he like your bike, or what? Finish the rest of the story Harry, LOL! Dave
  24. Better off with a Chief's special with wad cutters! Light recoil and a heavier slug than a .380.....
  25. It's supposed to be in or near the old National Lead site, around the Fire Academy & the big Church, just near the GSP entrance ramp off of Rts. 9 & 35 by the circle.
