  1. Well put. Let's give special mention to the fine folks of VA and MD for their driving uhhhh abilities? Those of us that have ever spent time on the beltway know what I mean.
  2. Good choice. I love mine and my sister felt very comfortable shooting it.
  3. It's pretty big. An 8 inch diameter. Stands about 52" and weighs a little over 40lbs. You can get a 6" for $300 and a 4.5" for $249. Best to give them a call and talk over your options. I think they are on the west coast. 800-447-1001 They were helpful and I am very happy with what I got. It came with a computer program that gives you a real time view of the sky over your location so you can navigate the sky and know where and when to look for what you want to see.
  4. This is what I have. I like it so far although there is alot of light pollution where I live now. I have gotten excellent views of Saturn and it rings, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune. The moon looks amazing, if there was anyone walking around up there I could probably see them picking their nose. http://www.telescope.com/Telescopes/Best-Telescopes-for-Comets/Orion-SkyQuest-XT8-Classic-Dobsonian-Telescope/pc/-1/c/1/sc/475/p/102005.uts That one is above the price range you mentioned but they have smaller ones and many other styles. Excellent customer service and cheap if not free shipping. You can call them up and they will make a recommendation for you after asking some questions about what you want to be able to see and what your location is. They are very knowledgeable and will probably have a Black Friday sale.
  5. I discovered that if I go to Shoprite after 8pm any meat with a sell by date of that day can be had for more than 50% off. Not a prep, more of an FYI.
  6. Now buy one in a different caliber and see how much faster you can do it the second time.
  7. Video doesn't work because youtube account was terminated.
  8. maintenanceguy - Thanks for the heads up, got to see this one. After the launch they announced the next one would be the evening/night of December 15th.
  9. I heard they are "working on getting" a pool. Should show up when the steel does.

I ordered the 460 kit from Clark Custom Guns. I have just officially given up on trying to install this thing. I can get it into the slide but I can't get the slide back on the frame to the point of installing the slide stop. Oh the frustration! I think I am just going to have to send it to Clark and have them do it for $20. I'm just not sure if they would have to send it to an FFL to transfer ($) it back to me. If that's the case I just assume have it done locally. Anyone else run into problems?
  11. Aren't most parks technically closed from dusk to dawn? Does this park happen to be in a school zone?

    Horse Cops

They can go places regular vehicles can't, such as parks. It also gives them the ability to see over the top of large crowds, much better view than from the ground. A horse is also a very intimidating animal and can be effective in crowd control I assume. As long as they take good care of the horses I see no problem with it.
  13. Some also might find the teeth scary looking. I can see it being banned in NJ for that reason.
  14. You only have to transfer a handgun if bought out of state. You can go to PA or any other state and buy a long-gun (assuming it's NJ legal) and walk out of the store with it after an instant check. No need for transfer. Transfer rates vary from one FFL to the next. Some are very reasonable and others not so much. I have found good deals in shops and on-lione. You need to decide how much of a savings, if at all, is worth it to you. When I was looking for a S&W 686 I found a great price on-line on a brand new one that local gun shops couldn't touch for a used one.
  15. You could buy this S&W Model 27 and take some pictures of it that do it justice. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=368896273

Just checked out the installation video on their site. They give you a 20 and 24lb. spring. He says the 24 is better in the carbon steel and the 20 is better for the stainless steel slide. That answers the question I was going to ask them. I guess it's an early Christmas present to myself.

I think I'm going to send them an email. I have a stainless Sig 1911 and in the FAQ they say "If the Kimber is stainless, then I would definitely go with the Colt and its carbon steel slide– blued or carbon steel is a better material for auto guns in general. (note: there is not a single stainless steel first line military weapon in use. Stainless steel is fine for barrels and revolvers, but sometimes gives reliability issues when stainless steel parts rub against each other as in a stainless slide on a stainless frame; the blued slide on a stainless frame should be fine.)" Anyone have any input on this?

Who sells this kit and is it drop in?
  19. When you get your court date write a letter to the judge right away. Inform them that you are reluctant to show up for your court date because you feel you are being lured there by a violent person. Someone was attempting to get you to stop your car so they could assault you during a road rage incident but you would not stop. They then took your plate number and filed complaints against you. You are unable to file counter complaints because you have no idea who this person is and neither do the police in the town it happened. Tell the judge you feel this was done by a very unstable individual who you believe is trying to do you physical harm. A lawyer will most likely be a waste of money and public defenders usually finished at the bottom of their class at some crummy law school and will be of no help.
  20. Sure was nice of those wires to wait until after Labor Day to start a fire.
  21. It was only a matter of time before Burt Gummer ended up in this thread.... Broke into the wrong rec room
  22. AimSurplus has good deals but you need to act quickly. Sign up for notifications.
  23. $300 for a season pass, round of golf and waterpark pass (though I dont use it) isn't a bad deal. I only go on weekdays during the day avoiding weekends and holidays altogether. I would rather ski someplace up North as well but I am not making that drive 3 days a week. It's a good way to stay busy between trips to VT and a late season trip to the Rockies.
