  1. Shooters (STINKY GOOD!), MPro7 (non-toxic) and finish off with FP10.
  2. It's not that big a deal if you don't receive your card yet. Just bring a printout of your receipt that you paid for membership as the email instructs and you're GTG. I didn't even print it and just left it in my BlackBerry for when I needed to show it. They won't hassle you for not receiving it. Now, if you did receive it and weren't displaying it, that would be a different story.
  3. I can reconfirm that no personal steels are allowed. A member was told by the RO to remove his steel targets when they were doing their rounds. He reiterated to read the wall of range rules. He was popping 22s in the rifle range.
  4. Sportsmanship Guide was great to me when stock was available prior to the madness. Now, I question renewing my membership till the heat dies down. Why hold on to a membership whenthere's nothing available to use it on. I will not support any price gouging online stores ever. Sad to say, there are others that will pay the hefty premium in getting them so they won't feel the pinch from us minority buyers. I also support Dick's. Of the few times I was able to pick up ammo, their prices were fair. What I don't support are the regular stalkers waiting for the store to open to empty them out the day after the store's delivery comes in. I heard that there were regulars going each week to clear them out. Today, I had a chance to witness them. The sales manager, reps and cashiers know them, and they know each other. I've gone 4wks straight to empty shelves. These guys must be reselling them. If I don't get ammo soon at a fair price, I'm gonna have to start conserving what I have left and look into alternatives. Maybe dust off my spring rifle.
  5. Only warning on the Troy brakes are that they are a PITA to pin. Make sure the smith has a carbide bit to drill the hole, or he's gonna have a lot of broken bits. The Troy brakes are super hard so standard HSS or Cobalt bits won't cut it.
  6. Like hiker said, I'd go for the HP and get it beautified by one of those smiths. That's one of my long term goals though. If you're not looking to customize it, then even a refinishing can bring it back to life. Look into accessories as well. Not sure how readily available P6 mags are, but HPs are still in production. More parts and accessories available.
  7. I've ordered a 26" match upper from them in January. I hope it'll live up to what I'm hearing. Still waiting for it to hit their benches. Can you tell me what your recipe is for feeding your WOAs? Are you feeding factory, match or your own personal reloads?
  8. Do the mfg actually make their own LPKs? I thought LPKs were just repackaged parts from a distributor.
  9. Ray. You got your LPK? Still waiting on mine. Had an update on the 20th say they won't bill till shipped. Last I heard from them, and that was on their website when I went to check the order. No emails. Order was placed 1/19. ARGH!
  10. You forgot that you need to rack the slide each time you prepare to enter a room, go around a corner or go through a doorway.
  11. I think I need to start stropping my knives with toothpaste then.
  12. Wow. Toothpaste. That's a first. I used sandpaper which goes all the way up to 8000grit then follow up with red rouge, then mag polish. With 6-7,000 rounds, likely a lot of the contact points have already weared to a smooth finish. The only next stage I heard was replacing the trigger. Haven't thought of cutting off some coils from the hammer spring, but I rather have reliable strikes on the primer. The D spring lightened up my DA pull quite a bit so I was happy. I know one guy when I was at a match having tons of issues with WWB and the D spring. I run CCIs and Aguilas. Not one failure. Last thing you can do is send it off to a reputable 92 specialist to fine tune it. Not sure what magic they do.
  13. I'd like to see a shotgun that can fit a glove box and have 35-12g magazine capabilities.
  14. Sometimes I feel bad for going paperless with the bills and taking away from USPS's business, but it incidents like these that solidifies my decision. Sorry to hear the ordeal you're going through. Also something to watch for, which I didn't know till it happened. I ordered a part which was being shipped to me via UPS. After a few days of tracking online, I was surprised that UPS transferred the pkg to USPS for final delivery. Luckily my part did come in the mail, but once it hit USPS's systems, UPS tracking ends at that point. Did this happen to anyone else?
  15. Is that the grip you use for IDPA? Been looking to change my grips so it was coincidence this topic came up. I've used diamond and smooth wood grips. Sometimes I feel the diamond's too sharp, and the smooth ones are too slick. I have 30lpi checkered front strap and mainspring and have to adjust my grip for mag changes so smooth grips are nice on that note, but I feel I depend a lot on my checkering for a firm grasp when I'm running a string. Looking for an ideal pattern that if I'm not squeezing, it provides the right amount of slip and when engaging, provides the right amount of grip.
  16. I did the polish on mine too. Worth the effort. Action is definitely smoother. Even though it wasn't bad to begin with, but now it's more refined. The D spring made a big difference too for me. Did you also smooth out the sear and hammer engagement area? Gives a bit of cleaner break. I haven't looked into replacing the trigger as I've heard that improves the action as well.
  17. Does anyone have input on a .223 Wylde chamber? I heard those were capable of handling 5.56. I don't have one at hand to mic, but it's hopefully coming in May. I concur from my research that dropping the hammer on a 5.56 in a .223 chamber increases pressures dramatically possibly causing abnormal wear or catastrophic failure. Never quite understood the cause till now.
  18. I intend to when they come of age to be allowed into the range. Times just aren't what they use to be when you can just go out to your backyard for some plinking. I remember the days when you could just pick up a bb gun at Service Merchandise.
  19. As everyone else has recommended, get bigger than what you are anticipating. Once you have a safe, then you start looking around the house for what you want to put in there. I had a half height Browning safe perfect for handguns, but in the end, I only had one shelf dedicated for them as all the other shelves because jewelry, documents and other important or expensive items. I then purchased a long gun safe. 10g capacity. The left if filled with rifles and shotgun. The right is stacked with ammo and mags. Now I wonder if I should've bought the 24+ capacity. Consider this, 1) how often do you plan on hauling a safe from the store to the basement? 2) How many times do you want to buy a safe? 3) What else would you put in there if you had a safe? I went to Dick's on B-Friday. Got a 10g safe for $299. It's not luxurious like some nicer brands, but it's not a cabinet and gets the job done. Also, I was able to haul it to the basement by myself. Not easily, but doable. My friend got a 24g safe, I believe, from Costco. Check them out. Price was real good and curbside delivery. That was a beast to move. Going bigger once is cheaper than buying twice.
  20. I never really discussed this topic with my older daughter who's 7yrs old. I was planning to wait till she got older to bring up the topic and introduce her to them, although I doubt she'd ever would like them. Something happened on Saturday though that caught my attention when I read an ad lib she filled out at the restaurant when we were waiting for our food. For one of the nouns, she wrote "gun". She knows what they are and that I have them. I asked her how she was able to spell that and why she chose that word. Pretty straight forward, she just dictated the sounds and spelled it out and that it was a thing (noun). It was odd how that word would be chosen as opposed to so many other alternatives at her disposal. I ended up telling her that these are not toys and that she shouldn't discuss us having them to anyone. Period. Just need to keep it simple for her. Kids are like sponges. It's so easy for them to soak up anything around them. I limit brandishing my firearms around her. I usually isolate myself to another room or when they are asleep. I don't want to deny having them but just want to limit exposure. I use to reference them as daddy's toys or big people toys. I have since separated that word when discussing about firearms. For many of us, they are a form of entertainment, but this comes with a great deal of respect and responsibilities of use and ownership.
  21. That's awesome. Only from inspection, my 9s were so clean and shiny, puts factory stuff to shame. No case dings or copper/brass oxidation; slight extractor and ejector marks. If you didn't look at the mismatch of case brands, you'd figure them to be new. If they shoot clean and no dreaded squibs come about, I don't mind coming back to them. Their pricing is what keeps me going to the range. Now I wonder how their rifle ammo is. Can't roll out a ding in one of those cases if it's got a neck.
  22. Glad to hear they are courteous enough to do that. Reputation is a big thing in the business world. Bad feedback travels 10x faster than good feedback. I got 500 of their SUPER SHINY 9s that I haven't tested out yet. I'm curious to know too how their quality is. When I do get a chance to hit the range, I'll report back. Has anyone dropped the hammer on any of them and can provide feedback?
  23. Not sure how big you looking for, but I snagged my 10g Field and Stream at Dick's on Black Friday. $299. Compared to my Browning safe, it's not as nice, but can't beat the price and way better than some sheet metal cabinets.
  24. Not sure if bore butter's going to do the trick. Read up on the specs and it seems more like a coating or lubricant. The J-B is a mild abrasive almost like metal polish. The abrasive degrades as you're using it in the bore so in essence, you're polishing it. It's mild enough not to cause any damage to the bore or rifling. You want to use a tight fitting patch and jag with this stuff. ~30 passes with the patch should do it. Afterwards, you still need to go through your regular routine to washout any residue. I was introduced to the stuff at a shop when I was complaining of lead build-up on the rifling near the chamber and recommendations as I was shooting a lot of lead ball and wadcutter rounds out of my 45. Soaking the barrel in various brands of cleaners didn't do much. Shooter's Choice helped a bit, but J-B did the trick on the first attempt. Further research shows that a lot of ppl use them in high-power long range rifle competitions. Gimmick or not, this formula's still around after so many years. Works for me. I even use it on my RWS 34 pellet rifle w/ Walther barrel.
  25. So other than price, what's the benefits of steel? Only thing I can imagine is that steel can handle higher pressure. I'm surprised no one said to get a Saiga already.
