They are just basic questions. At my appointments I have been asked stupid questions. Do you drink, how much, smoke, drugs, multiple partners, practice safe sex. I got chewed out for not wearing seat belts. I think we have just gotten to sensitive to anything with gun in it. I could understand them voicing concern about safe lead handling and storage. I understand that they are our kids and we should raise them as needed, but let's face it, in the general population there is way to many people that are to stupid to have kids. If my doctor asked I would have no problems answering the question. Should you have to answer it? No. If your not comfortable don't answer it. I could give a crap who knows that I have guns. My eye docter knows and the first thing she asked was if i needed safety glasses. Not everybody is out to get us. It's not like your keeping it hidden from "the man" anymore. In today's times they know who is armed. They might not know how many or what kind, but they know who is armed. Where I live is not your typical NJ. We still have small town values and the majority of people still care about their neighbors. There is a very high rate of gun ownership in my town so maybe that is why I feel the way I do.

If I'm not mistaken didn't NJ already approve "smart" gun technology? Even though the technology was not available at the passing the ground work is laid for mandatory adoption of something similar to this. Any ideas how far out this is? This could be a very credible threat to firearms in NJ.

It's NJ. There is no process or logic. If in fact your file was sent to Trenton, your probably looking at 6-8 weeks. The problem is every time you talk to somebody at the local level you get a different story. I know with my permits they contacted my references 2 months after I submitted everything. My buddy asked him how much longer I had and the trooper said he should have his permits in 2-3 weeks. It was another three and a half months. All in all it was a 6 month process for me. I have heard of some barracks taking 6-9 months before everything went down. Sorry I didn't have any better news for you.

Buy away. The most I have bought was 5 at one time and a week later 2 more. No issues.

Maybe have him contact NJSP firearms division and talk to them directly. Although, since this is NJ, its luck of the draw if they know their stuff. Worst case ask if he would transfer to your FFL. That way the burden is not on him.

Mine took six months. The ones before these 21 days. The reason the difference in times was the issuing authority changed. Even during the peak of the gun crunch pro 2a towns still had quick turn around times. If your trying to gauge how long of a wait your in for post up your town and I'm sure sooner or later somebody will chime in.

Yes the crappy weather sucks like it was said drink plenty of water. A bunch of us spent 4-6 hours on Sunday busting clays. After a day of good shooting a few ice cold beers makes it all good!
