  1. Damn......thoughts and prayers brother........
  2. Range closed? I know the new archery range was closed down due to some issues with the lease.... Hope everything works out, hate to loose a place like that....
  3. Put me on the list of happy customers for SGammo.com and TargetsportsUSA. I also occasionally go with Sportsmanship Guide and Cabella's when the sales are good.
  4. Check www.garandgear.com - lots of info - and they sell a nice ported gas plug, requires no adjustments. lot's of commercially available Ammo for Garand, there is also the CMP a good source for milsurp Ammo.
  5. They provided a catered meal for a couple County Fire Chief's Association meetings - that's how they got a lot of the swag their place is decorated with....food is great, atmosphere is great!

  7. My $.02 After shooting my S&W Shield 9mm, my daughter and daughter in law both went out and bought one (they shoot regularly). I've read several articles about the great differences between what a man thinks a female wants in a gun and what the lady actually wants....don't make any assumptions - there are legal issues you should also be aware of if you buy your wife a gun with your permit, could get ugly if she were to take it to a range without you, real ugly if she ever had the need to use it to defend herself.
  8. Salem County Fire Academy (856)769-2900 ex. 4119 (but I don't know what they have scheduled), or Gloucester County College (look in the adult education program under Allied Health) their class kicks off next week, you may still be able to get in. I doubt you'll be able to pick up the fees under the state training fund, she would need to be running with a volunteer squad. But yes, it is a good entry into the medical field. I'm old, and have been a volunteer EMT for many years. My day job paid much better than I could earn in EMS, but I've watched many young people get their EMT's and go on to great careers in the medical field - nurses, ER Techs, even a doctor or two. I've also sat in several countinuing education courses where the instructor (often a doctor, nurse, or surgeon proudly announces that they got their starts as EMTs. You might also check with Milville Rescue, they might have a program
  9. Big Thumbs Up again to MedicYedi! I carry a C-A-T in each of my vehicles precisely for the motorcycle rider who gets off his bike at 50 mph and gets stopped by a STOP sign post. Along with my assortment of first aid supplies is a fresh non-expired bottle of baby aspirin for the cardiac emergencies, and an awareness of CVA (Stroke) symptoms - even mini-stroke (TIA), treatment for the later is available, but it is time dependent (3 hours), tough guys can easily talk themselves into death or permanent disability by ignoring the signs and symptoms of a stroke.
  10. Big Thumbs Up MedicYeti! Looking for you at MHRPC's upcoming Woman's Day at the Range? Shot gun?

  12. I'd double down on Krdshrk's dry fire advice. One other little trick is to get someone else to load your mags, (or load several yourself), and slip a snap cap in every once in awhile. If you"re flinching, or tightening your grip before you shoot, you can deny it, you can argue with a coach that you're not doing it - but if you come up on a snap cap by surprise, and if you are if you're flinching there will be no denying it.
  13. Push yourself to go grab something cool and get to the range with it....you'll be fine....
  14. First, there are no right or wrong answers....everyone has (and is entitled too) their own opinion. As far as a hollow point for self defense - all brands have their pluses and minuses - whichever brand you choose (and you already mentioned some good ones) get some to keep with your firearm, but also get some to run through your firearm. With a revolver, it's hard to imagine any hiccups due to Ammo, but better to discover any issues at the range rather when you are depending on the firearm for something more important. For target practice, personally I like manufactured brass - I keep most of my spent brass, I don't reload at this time, but I may in the future. I like Full Metal Jacket (FMJ), rather than Lead Round Nose(LRN) for reasons you already mentioned - it seems to be much cleaner. I shoot a lot, I look for deals online, Remington, Winchester, Lawman are all good choices, but I have also been happy with lessor knowns like Magtech, Stellier & Bellot, and Armscor. Shoot some 357 to get used to it and know what you got, but if you shoot a lot, I shoot 38. (My home defense (HD) ammo is all 357 mag Jacketed Hollow Point (JHP).
  15. Simply a new tax....another law that will be impossible to enforce on the general public.
  16. Welcome! This forum is a great place to get all the help you need. I'm a little further south then you, but I like South Jersey Shooting Club in Winslow Township, If your looking check it out... the onsite local gun store (LGS), Banger's is sponsoring a Sportsman"s Jamboree The weekend of August 20/21. Also, for ammo I've had good luck with bulk purchases from SGammo or TargetSportUSA, but you should also keep an eye out for sales at Dick's (walk in) or Cabella's (walk in or mail order). Again, Welcome to the forums!
  17. http://www.fireengineering.com/ap-news/2016/08/04/firefighters-forced-to-wait-for-100k-ammo-rounds-to-explode.html Firefighters forced to wait for 100K ammo rounds to explode 08/04/2016 TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) — Firefighters have put out a fire at an office building in New Jersey after waiting for 100,000 rounds of ammunition stored inside to explode. The fire at the building in Toms River burned for two hours Thursday morning and ignited the ammunition. Toms River police spokesman Officer Ralph Stocco says that the building's owner is a competitive shooter. Toms River Fire Department District 1 Chief John Gonzalez told the Asbury Park Press (http://on.app.com/2ao7wOY) that the ammunition was popping for about 10 minutes. It took another few hours for the fire to stop smoldering. No one was in the building at the time of the fire and no one was hurt. It wasn't clear how the fire began. <edited - took out all that verbiage that seemed to suggest I couldn't post this>

  20. Lol! Copy that! In addition to the above, the Deptford store has an additional 10% off clearance ammo. Picked up two MEGA PACKS Remington UMC 40 S&W (250rds) each for $71.97 each
  21. Long time with NJ Manufactorer's - 2 kids, now in their mid 30's one still has NJM the other has USAA (military).
  22. Rifles - M1, M1A wipe them down, snake the barrel after every use, field strip maybe every 18 months. Handguns and AR's after every range session - stay ahead of any issues...
