Ray Ray 3,566 Posted May 27, 2009 I own a 98K from them, looks good, shoots good, except for the fact that I'm a lefty, but the my pop loves it
tbtrout 141 Posted May 28, 2009 They look real nice. But I have never shot one.
axeman_g 128 Posted May 28, 2009 Why not just find a excellent condition Yugo m24 and spend the money on ammo. They are just fancied up Yugos, nothing you could not do with some elbow grease and time. Heck.. check Samco http://www.samcoglobal.com/m24.html
usnmars 136 Posted May 28, 2009 Honsetly look around on surplusrifle.com to get a good opinion on mitchells. They are not the most honest of sellers, and are very pricey to boot. I have to say they are pretty if you are looking for a shooter, but if you are looking for a historical firearm i assure you mitchells is not the way to go. If you want, there are Russian Captures on the market that require a little elbow grease and a lot of cleaning but they seem to be excellent shooters and half the price of mitchells. If you are interested in a RC let me know and i will keep my eyes open and give you a low down on how to make 'em look prudy.
Greydaddy 2 Posted May 28, 2009 Thanks guys. I haven't seen it yet, but I already invested in a K98, but I was wondering about what I got into. Should've asked on here first, I suppose. I know they're expensive, but if it's in decent shape with everything matching, I'll be happy!
usnmars 136 Posted May 28, 2009 well if you are in north jersey, i am willing to show you the ropes on mausers. i am a major collector and have every flavor of surplus ammo you can get. if you want to meet up and go shootin' just let me know.
Greydaddy 2 Posted May 29, 2009 Thanks usnmars. I live in central Jersey, but get up to Cherry Ridge once in a while. Not as much as I'd like though! You are/were Navy?
Mauser88 0 Posted May 29, 2009 Wife and Son bought me a K98 for Christmas. The bore is bright and shiny and it shoots well. Mine likes the heavier bullets. The 220 grain SP is deadly at 100 yards off a sandbag.
