Employee Accidentally Shot In Hand At Gun Range

Recommended Posts

Luckily that range is in Florida, if it were in Jersey the Insurance company would have raised there premium so high they would have to go out of business

I dont know how to owner can keep operating. His range is the destination for would be suiciders.... I hope they at least would write a release letter.

This kind of stuff is why I wear body armor at ranges.

wow, seriously?

I've never liked going to public ranges after seeing all the bullet holes in Ray's stalls. I guess I'm blessed to be a member of Old Bridge, where it is essentially a private range.

My understanding is that they're illegal in the commission of a crime.. much like HP ammo in NJ. So, as long as you're not committing a crime (i.e. robbing the corner bodega) while wearing armor, there's no issues. But i'm not a lawyer

Here we go:

2C:39-13. Unlawful use of body vests

Unlawful use of body vests. A person is guilty of a crime if he uses or wears a body vest while engaged in the commission of, or an attempt to commit, or flight after committing or attempting to commit murder, manslaughter, robbery, sexual assault, burglary, kidnaping, criminal escape or assault under N.J.S.2C:12-1b. Use or wearing a body vest while engaged in the commission of, or an attempt to commit, or flight after committing or attempting to commit a crime of the first degree is a crime of the second degree. Otherwise it is a crime of the third degree.

As used in this section, "body vest" means bullet-resistant body armor which is intended to provide ballistic and trauma protection.

L.1983,c.152,s.1; amended 1999, c.306.

Edit: And that's it. That's the only mention of wearing body armor by "civilians" in the NJ statutes.
