Malsua 1,422 Posted June 1, 2010 Rugers are very nice but I heard they're a pain to clean. Two words - BORE SNAKE. Took me about 30 seconds to clean last night, and that included taking the bore snake out of the package and applying CLP to the snake. If you feed the cord through the mag well and then through the bore, you also manage to get the majority of the snake to contact and clean the feed ramp as well. Sheesh, who cleans it? I've owned my Mark II nearly 20 years, I can count on one hand how many times I've cleaned it. It started to FTE last year so I replaced the worn smooth extractor. It hasn't been cleaned or failed in any fashion since....some 2000 rounds later.
