Maksim 1,504 Posted June 14, 2010 wow. I wonder if they would allow people to have an out of state carry license, ala Florida. Actually, I think they already do?
Guest Posted June 14, 2010 The correct issue is, if you are a pa resident, you must have a pa permit. Does nothing about reciprocity...wont pass either...thank you. This is a police captain in philly, and a do good city prosecutor trying to make an issue because they are scared of 'black' people carrying guns in a legal manner... think about it, now gun control has morphed and affected white people, remember that gun control is a racist institution that was started to prevent black folk from arming themselves against white raiders and the kkk in the antebellum south... Which would make the Left's typical comparison between racists and the NRA ratehr funny, if it wasnt so bloody sad.
quikz 34 Posted June 15, 2010 A little while ago.....The PA State Pol. (if Im not mistaken, or some LE in PA) got all upset w/ the FL CCW reciprocity thing. This was due to the poorly worded, could go either way, wording of PA's AG (Tom Corbet) website. They sought to capitalize or distort the reciprocity verbage and say that PA will no longer accept Non-Res FL permits. So live in NJ only and have a FL CCW? You OUT. After an email campaign between Gary Slider of handgunlaw.us and others, as well as myself, (still have the emails) PA's AG changed the wording to CLEARLY define PA's CCW to be able to recip w/ out-of-state, non-res CCW's issued from FL. FL was very helpful and appreciated our efforts to get the two states to communicate with eachother and clarify a position. Every citizen should be more active to those in gov't who really are supposed to be responsible to YOU. There are big shot city politicians who are ready to Bloomberg-tize PA. But I hope and believe it will defeated in Harrisburg. Tho no guarantees there. *Might I snipe a tad at NJ and say. Our sun would red-giant and consume our planet, the BP oil spill was actually spewing out diamonds, gold and a cure for cancer & death, before this would ever happen here in NJ. (You all know this is no exaggeration.)
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted June 16, 2010 The true intent of this bill has been stated, but it keeps getting lost in the rhetoric. This issue is being pushed by the Phila Police Gun Unit (PPGU) and they are calling it the Florida Loophole. Their issue is that the PPGU denies someone a LTCF and that person then obtains one from Florida, Utah or some other state with reciprocity with PA. The proposed law would state that a PA resident (this law will only affect PA residents) must have a PA LTCF to carry within PA. Now the back story - Phila residents (mostly) avail themselves of this option because the PPGU acts outside the authority of the PA Uniform Firearms Act (UFA) in denying applicants their LTCF. In other words the PPGU is breaking the law. Reasons for disqualification for a LTCF are clearly stated in the UFA. The PPGU just likes to add their own - like you've had a gun stolen, or you have child support arrears, etc, etc. The press, which has taken to this issue like a duck to water, always fails to point out that a FL CCW is more expensive, requires training of some kind (PA does not), vets through the FBI (PA only uses the PASP) and has the same disqualifications as the PA UFA. Hopefully, as someone else stated, this won't pass, but either way it will not affect NJ residents that carry in PA on another state's permit - that will probably be the next target. Adios, Pizza Bob
