c6dino 2 Posted December 21, 2010 Did anyone know that it is legal to discharge a firearm in the Borough of Milltown? December 16, 2010 Sentinel "Milltown to appoint borough historian" Full text at: http://ebs.gmnews.com/news/2010-12-16/Front_Page/Milltown_to_appoint_borough_historian.html "The Borough Council denied the approval of an ordinance that prohibits anyone from firing, or causing to discharge, any pistol, shotgun, rifle or other firearm at anytime within the limits of the borough. Officials said the purpose of the ordinance is to safeguard borough residents and to protect their property. Councilman Ronald Dixon said he has been contacted by members of the United States Marine Corps, the Veterans of ForeignWar posts and other groups requesting that a provision be added to the ordinance that would exempt ceremonial services where firearms are discharged. The ordinance stipulates only that the law would not apply to law enforcement officers. Borough Attorney Thomas Buck said he would write a provision addressing that issue. The council will vote on the amended ordinance at the next council meeting."

Greydaddy 2 Posted December 21, 2010 Never would have thought that it was legal to discharge a firearm in Milltown, but where the heck COULD you use a firearm in Milltown.
theRU 33 Posted December 21, 2010 I thought i heard that it passed already. I think this ordinance is just a formality as there really arent any places you would want to discharge a firearm there anyway.
RecessedFilter 222 Posted December 21, 2010 Some towns have a policy on shooting firearms (within ___yds of any building, within ___yds of a street, etc). A call to your local PD will answer any such questions. Bu Milltown!? Hahaha.
JackDaWack 2,895 Posted December 21, 2010 What about discharging a firearm in the event of protecting yourself during a break in? Would you face charges based on the fact you were defending your life?
kenw 293 Posted December 21, 2010 What about discharging a firearm in the event of protecting yourself during a break in? Would you face charges based on the fact you were defending your life? Nope. At least for now, you are allowed to discharge a firearm in defense of your life inside your home without running afoul of "No Discharge" ordinances.
