Dan 177 Posted May 31, 2011 How can they not pay for repairs. It should be covered under comprehensive, just like if a vandal did a number on it....
tony357 386 Posted May 31, 2011 I do not know, the police told him to keep it covered until it was fixed. he does not have alot of money so he needs to drive it..
BRaptor 68 Posted May 31, 2011 How can they not pay for repairs. It should be covered under comprehensive, just like if a vandal did a number on it.... Comprehensive isn't mandatory in NJ, and it's pretty expensive. If the guy doesn't have lots of money, and since the van looks older, it's more than likely he didn't have comprehensive coverage, which means no insurance to pay the repairs. tony357 386 Posted May 31, 2011 I do not think it was his insurance, i believe it was home owners insurance for the complex he lives in.

vjf915 456 Posted May 31, 2011 Just goes to show you that a car is NOT cover, only concealment.
The Dark Knight 11 Posted May 31, 2011 Just goes to show you that a car is NOT cover, only concealment. Not necessarily. Most handgun rounds only go through one side of a car, so you'd be safe. Now, rifle rounds would be a different story.
JackDaWack 2,895 Posted May 31, 2011 Not necessarily. Most handgun rounds only go through one side of a car, so you'd be safe. Now, rifle rounds would be a different story. It depends, if your in the car, or outside behind it, or if your behind the engine block, or if someone is shooting under the car. There is no uniform surface to a car. A handgun round even 9mm solid point will go right through a door and depending on where it hits the second door it will go right through that one too. I've seen it happen in many videos where cars are used as target practice. Supports in the doors are not solid, and are usually just cross members, you have a 50/50 chance of having a bullet hit the sheet metal pass clean through and right through the other side, or it could be stopped by a support. Its like the difference of shooting through a window or hitting one of the pillars that support the roof. One particular video comes to mind, which is the mythbusters episode they used phonebooks to "bullet" proof a car. Your best bet would be to use the engine as cover, even then your not assured to be safe, and you still have some coverage from under using the front wheel.
DirtyDigz 1,812 Posted May 31, 2011 Box of truth - Multiple 9mm shots result in *some* penetrating all the way through 2 Buick car doors (scroll to bottom): http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/buickot3_2.htm
DirtyDigz 1,812 Posted May 31, 2011 Back on to the original topic, it would be interesting if the van owner used some of those fake bullet hole stickers to cover up the actual bullet holes... Would it be possible for him to sue the estate of the deceased shooter for the damage?

e80hydro 120 Posted May 31, 2011 I like it. He needs to fill in the blown out window holes with Ballentine beer boxes for maximum effect though.
