intercooler 41 Posted February 11, 2012 I have an old drill press that was given to me and i got it to work, but it needs a new on/off switch the old one is in the picture below. the switch is a lever that pivots and has a detent in it. it clicks on then recenters almost like a breaker . can anyone point me to where i can dind its replacement? it screws onto a plate that then is held by screws to the frame in a box cast in the motor wires attach by screws to the body, 2 per side has 10a 250v -12a125v on it the machine is 110v there is a rod that attaches to the lever that is used to activate the switch from the front of the machine here is the patent info i found from the number on it http://www.datamp.or...889259&id=41941
djg0770 481 Posted February 11, 2012 Did you try appliance parts.com? If they don't have it, McMaster.com or grainger.com is where I would try to find industrial parts like that.
intercooler 41 Posted February 11, 2012 i looked on grainger, but there are thousands of switches and i don't know what this is specifically
Old School 611 Posted February 11, 2012 For fear of stating the obvious. the manufacturer is Cutler-Hammer. Have you tries their catalogue? Really doesn't look to special.
deadeye74 5 Posted February 11, 2012 Can you bypass that switch and install another on? You could use some butt splices to hard wire where the old switch was then just install a simple toggle switch in a box on the power cord side. Might be easier than trying to find the exact switch, especially if it's an old model press. What make is the drill press?
intercooler 41 Posted February 11, 2012 the press is made by delta. I figured i'd look for the correct one before i put somthing else in there
checko 180 Posted February 11, 2012 Call the manufacturer and get the part number search for the part number on the net and it may come up with something.
johna hex 1 Posted February 11, 2012 I think any single pole single throw switch would work. If it has 3 speed it's single pole triple throw switch if you could slow and speed up the motor with the switch it's called a potentiometer. As long as its 120v single phase
PeteF 1,044 Posted February 11, 2012 Find the part number of the drill press. Give Delta a call they used to be pretty good about stocking repair parts or http://www.ereplacementparts.com/delta-drill-press-parts-c-3275_3279.html
