So I Have an Idea...

Recommended Posts

... which my wife always says can't lead to any thing positive!

Anyway, what I'm thinking is this: Since we know that Chez Menendez will most likely win another term in the senate along with Lautenberg, we know we have several years to begin taking action. Why can't an organization like NJ2AS come up with a candidate that we can back? Someone that the flolks that like/love the gun culture can get behind? Someone that will actually take into account and remember that they work FOR US, not themselves? Someone that will begin to effect change at all levels to allow us to legally own and carry firearms in this state? We can sit back and moan and groan about how none of it will ever change because Menendez is gonna get re-elected, or we can use this as a time for growth.

Why is no one starting now? I mean this election is, for all intents and purposes a write off for us. But... if we look at it as a period to find someone that we can stand behind we can make something happen. The next election is right around the corner and the time to start truly taking action is now. At least that's how I feel.

Hopefully those that are smarter than me (there are many!) and make some suggestions on folks we can begin to take a look at to end the crap that we have been getting force fed for too many years. And also, how we can get those on here and elsewhere to GET OUT AND VOTE!!!

Just a thought.

Lautenmummy is not up for re-election this time around. He is on his way out, one way or another. Hopefully expiring before his term does, if not, NJ Senate Prez Sweeney will likely be the D nom for that seat, because George Norcross wants to own a US Senator.

So your asking a miser and hoarding forum for donations to fund our own candidate in the name of NJ2AS good luck, it took a year and a half to raise a lousey 15K to pay for lawyers, there are over 3500 members here, clearly the vast majority have no interest in helping themselfs.

So do you actually have a candidate in mind that is pro gun and can win in NJ? That's a tall order, were still a serious minority in this state. The best thing we can do at this point is to get more non gun owners into shooting, politicians are only going to pay attention to us when they think there's enough of us to vote them out.

Joseph Rudy Rullo. He made a strong running in the primary in June. He is the strongest 2A candidate that was out there. Hopefully we can get some backing behind him for the next one. I dont know if he is willing to go another round, since his political site is down and in place is his Solar company website. He can be reached on facebook also.

Democrat Registered Voters Outnumber Republican Registered Voters by over 100K.....The "Unaffiliated" Voters also traditionally Vote Democrat as well. NJ Democrats are Screaming Antigun Liberals..it really IS that simple.

No, I don't have anyone in mind. I wish I did.

As for the voter numbers, out of 9 million or so people in this state, how many registered or not will actually vote? 20%? Considering that, we just need larger turnout, not necessarily larger overall numbers. There are 1 million registered gun owners. If all voted, we'd be in pretty good shape.

Why not one of the young "twenty-somethings" here on this forum who are aspiring to be a politician. There's got to be at least one here. It could take another 5, 10, 15 years to have that person is the position that it takes to be effective, but at least start at the local/city level.

What about a pro gun Democrat who can point out the hypocrisy of NJ Gun laws and how they are inherently racist in their conception? Someone who can acknowledge that the law-abiding people who are most in danger from our disarmament are those in the inner city...who are disproportionately poor and disproportionately black?

Do they exist? It seems that this inescapable logic would explode the brains of NJ Democrats.

I thunk it likely had more to do with a loathing of corzine than a love of Christie.

That and the fact Christie ran on a platform of reducing government, taxes, and spending. Those are things any voter understands. A candidate running solely on 2A issues is only going to win if stupid voters elect him. Yes I said that. You have to have a stand on all issues. Look at Tea Party candidates. Yeah they are pro 2A but how many times do they bring it up? It is just a part of being a constitution based conservative.

I love the idea of someone on here standing up and going for it. I would, however I have a LOT of skeletons that need not be addressed. Or acknowledged. Not to mention that I'm poor. And, I agree that a stand on all issues needs to be there. I just think that a good candidate (for us as well as the rest of the state) would be one that bases his decisions on 2 things: The Constitution and what the constituency wants. Nothing else.

Good luck building a "war chest" that way.

I have said it once and will say it again...

Steve Sweeny is pro-gun. He has voted as such and is on the record with various news papers saying it.

Sweeny would be the "best realistic" option.

This is a good example of voters not being informed. Outside of Sweeny's A rating from the NRA he's just another tax and spend liberal. He can introduce bills to the state legislature for ccw and his party doesn't care because they know it isn't getting anywhere. His background as a big union guy is evidence of his socialist views. Show me any big union guy and deep down inside there's a little Karl Marx. Or more likely a lot.

But we have a republican governor, how'd that happen?

We've had other Republican Governers as well over the years..check however when the last time a Republican US Senator was from NJ...which is what we're talking about here. Republicans get into the governors seat ONLY when the Democrats screw up so badly Even their fellod Dems just want them Gone. Florio..Got us Whitman, and the Combination of McGreevey (AKA Pickle Pirate), and Corzine and his Shenanigans with the Katz woman, coupled with the REALLY Dismal State Economy, and Daily news stories about corrupt politicians being charges (BY Christie), disillusioned the voters enough to give him a shot. Unfortunately he somehow managed to COMPLETELY Ignore the Corruption in the State Govt once he got there..amazingly enough.

I can tell you as an active member of NJ2AS that this has been mentioned amongst ourselves at the meetings.

My suggestion to every NJ 2A supporter is to spend $35 and join NJ2AS. It's going to take time, money, and we the people of NJ to make this happen. They are making progress in baby steps, which is better than no progress at all.

There is a meeting this Wednesday, August 22 at GFH in Belleville. The meetings are free to attend by anyone, and you can sign up and join right there.
