Why you shouldn't carry concealed

Recommended Posts

Here is the rub, Disney wants to have its cake and eat it too. Officially they have a no firearms policy, if they find you with one in their parks they will ask you to leave but they don't post signs telling you you can't carry because if someone starts shooting they do not want to be responsible for having left their patrons defenseless. My father (retired LEO) is there every year and carries in the parks all the time. There are no signs at the entrances posted telling you you cannot...

Concealed is concealed, no law is being broken, just company policy.  Escort me from the park if I get caught.  Easy peasy.

Apparently the police confiscated his gun and escorted him out of the park, Maybe if he told them Mickey molested him he could have stayed

Costco has a similar policy.  Doesn't stop me from carrying there.  I'd rather risk my membership and privilege to shop than be forced to waive my right to self-defense and go unarmed, unable to defend myself or my family in the event of some scumbag looking for a body count happens to be there at the same time.

What my father said was that nothing in Florida's law criminalizes possession of a firearm in an establishment if that establishment has a no firearms policy. If you violate their policy, they can ask you to leave under that threat of a trespassing charge but that is it. Technically he did not break any law he simply chose to ignore Disney's policy. About the same punishment for not wearing shoes and a shirt in a restaurant that requires them. This is a non-event being blown out of proportion by people in the media looking to further their own agenda.

When some asstard eventually does start shooting up the place and all the patrons' guns are securely tucked away in their trunks a mile away, these same bone heads will be crying that we need laws to prevent people from owning whatever type of guns were used in that particular crime. They are like a piano with one key. Same tune every time.

Well, it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot now would it? ;)

No signs posted saying the property is a firearms free zone? Tough shit, they better put signs up or stop making up policy as they go along.

Well there goes my argument to Piers Morgan.  When there was discussion about arming teachers in schools, his response was, "Well what if a gun falls out?"  I would scream at the television, "You idiot, that never happens!"  I guess if you can think of something, it can and does happen.

Unless state law specifically criminalizes carrying in establishments the prohibit it, in which case there are usually specific requirements like posted signs at all entrances and what type of sign it must be, it is not illegal to carry there. It would only be illegal to refuse to leave AFTER being asked. Then it has nothing to do (legally) with the firearm, and it becomes a criminal trespassing issue.

Carrying a firearm on amusement park rides is pretty dumb when you don't have a proper holster that will retain it in that situation. Carrying a firearm on an amusement park ride with proper retention, SA, and basic non-idiot tenancies is just fine.

Leaving a firearm so it can be found by a child (or anyone really, there are a lot of morons out there) may in fact be a criminal act. I don't know Florida law. I wouldn't be surprised if the firearm was confiscated. Anyone know if that constitutes criminal negligence or something similar in FL?

Signs hold no weight in Florida, why waste the tin

OK, but why waste LEO's time when they could be protecting people from REAL threats versus showing up a Disney and taking the guys legally owned firearm?

If the "CCW Prohibited" signs hold no weight in FL Disney should leave the customers alone and accept the 2A rights of the American people, these same people spend sh*t loads of money at the park and if the customer feels the need to carry a concealed weapon they should be allowed to carry it.

Maybe the next time Mickey is held at knife-point he'll wish someone was carrying concealed nearby ;)

No one is wasting LEO's time with carrying legally in Disneyworld.  Worse case the park asks you to leave and if you don't you're trespassing and LEO are summoned to investigate the complaint.  Same deal if they ask you to leave for any other reason and you refuse.  They do this all the time to trashy people throwing fits in the park.

The reason LEO showed up was because there was a loaded firearm found on a ride and they had to investigate.

Disney's no firearms policy is only passively enforced and I don't believe the idea that many carry concealed in the park is lost on them.  With their unsigned "no gun" policy they enjoy a combined benefit of having armed civilians in the crowd, having city slickers believing they are anti-gun, and having no culpability in a civil suit because of a company policy that prevented the loss of human life.
