I'm certainly no expert, but can it even be made compliant? The AR15 (which as a Colt, I assume this is so marked) is banned by name on the list. The only exceptions are the HBAR models used in high power. What say you?

It's a LE6920 M4 carbine. So it doesn't get banned by name. It has a bayou lug, bird cafe flash hider, retractable stock and a 30 round pmag.

You will usually find the Colt 'Match Target' series of rifles in NJ; ie: MT6400/6400R. They are the ban compliant versions of the 6920/6940's.

No conversion required, as it has been done from the factory.

They have the added bonus (in my eyes) to be specifically named by NJ statutes as legal.

Not in statute or any law, I believe, but rather in a webpage discussing a conversation between the AG and the NJSP on the NJSP website...

That is where I read it. I stand corrected..

You can find the Colt Match Target specifically called out as not an assault firearm under N.J.A.C. 13:54-1.2 Definitions as follows:

The following are not considered assault firearms within the meaning of this definition:

1. The Colt Match Target rifle, based on the manufacturer's specifications, is not part of the

AR-15 series, and, thus, is not prohibited under N.J.S.A. 2C:39-1w(1). Although this rifle

may resemble the Colt AR-15, there have been substantial changes to the firearm, including

the receiver, which is not identical to an AR-15 receiver. In addition, because of changes in

the configuration of the firearm, the Colt Match Target rifle is not substantially identical to

a firearm prohibited under this classification.

I personally went after these models for the same reason Displaced Texan gave.

Just get a 6920 and make it legal here should cost about 100$ or so I just got a 6920 black for 1119 last month on gb. Com. You can get the 6900 all day long for 899$. Got one of those just to see what its about. Light trigger pull. The bcg was marked A. As in approved. They did a lot test rather than individual test. No mpc test. Thats why its only 899 and a colt. Plenty of ars avIlable now at 800-900$ range. Its only money. Go for it. Ars for all.

G&R tactical has Colts instock.. Reasonable price. Just have to have it modified to be NJ compliant.

I'm looking for an LE6920 and contacted G&R about it, they said they cannot and will not do the modification...I'm new to this purchasing requirement for NJ (used to live in FL where things were a lot simpler) so anyone know of a dealer that can do the modifications and ship it to FFL locally here?
