kc17 622 Posted November 20, 2013 I am in possession of my Grandfather's Sears 101.1 Model 94C 20 gauge. I know it is a Savage. I know the only real value of it is my personal value and heritage. What I do not know is whether or not it is safe to use. My Grandfather passed before I was born and my Father has no idea of the operability of it. He thinks he recalled it was in need of a firing pin. I'd like to have it looked over and made operational again if feasible. Ideally I'm looking for someone nearby (I'm in Western Monmouth County) with familiarity of this SG that can perform an initial inspection while I wait, but am willing to travel if needed. Haddoncoach 22 Posted November 23, 2013 It may be a bit of a hike for you but Winter's Guns in Berlin, NJ is one of the best. He is a 2nd generation gunsmith who specializes in older guns (my Winchester 1873 for example) he is very fair with his prices and meticulous in his work. Look him up. Johns323 0 Posted January 15, 2014 I figured I'd "hijack" this thread rather than start a new one. . . . I live in Jackson (Central Jersey) and have 2 older shotguns as well. One was my grandfathers, the other was my great grandfathers. I have no idea whether or not they're operable and would like to have them looked at. I checked out Winter's. It's a little over an hour from me. Does anyone know of any place closer to the Central Jersey area? If not, I'll make the trek down there. Here is a (not-so-great) pic of them:

Jfoster99 80 Posted February 7, 2014 I have used G&S Hunters in Patterson recently for compliance work. He finished early and the pin/weld on my stainless steel comp was almost invisible. Very nice clean work... The factory weld on my Bushmaster and my Spikes both look like they were done on a robotic tac welding assemble line. The upside is their is no question if they are welded or not..
Johns323 0 Posted March 29, 2014 Spot on advice about Winters! I dropped off two very old shotguns last weekend and picked them up today. He did an amazing job of restoring them and bringing them back to firing condition. I can't say enough good things about the guy. Easy to talk to, knows his stuff and passionate about his trade. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.
