Ar upper other than .233^5.56

Recommended Posts

The caliber you go with really depends on what the gun is for.  HD?, Hunting?  Plinking?   My personal opinion is that 6.8SPC will become an important caliber in the not too distant future.  I intend to build my next AR in 6.8.

True I don't want another 5.56 unless a short as in pistol length but not legal here I shoot 22lr, 38spcl 357mag, 9mm, 45acp, 7.62x54r 5.56, 12 guage , and now 30-06 which I have not shot yet but do have the gun. A caliber in something I shoot would be nice not sure what though

I built one chambered in 7.62x39 and ive seen them for sale around. Bottom line when putting that caliber in an AR is finding a mag that feeds reliably. other than that its wicked fun to shoot and cheaper than most calibers.

I am currently building one chambered in 9mm

I know I brought it up before, but anybody serious about doing odd (such as commie) calibers in the AR should consider the MGI products.

You can get a complete rifle in most configurations for about $1300. And they will use real mags - AKM mags, AK-74 mags, greasegun mags, etc. Not modified, expensive, unreliable mags. So, when you consider the savings in mag costs, it probably brings the rifle cost down about $100-$200. Plus, you can swap out magwells for around $275 to use other non-AR mags and calibers.

It's pricey but you get to use the real gear which is reliable and cheap.
