Manufactured in 1941 has a 3" barrel these guns did not come in 3" but it looks like. It was cut by a pro C.P.D. stamped on the bottom strap of the handle so this might have belonged to a Chicago Police Detective anybody ever come across one like this with a cut barrel and have a possible value. Gfs dad recently inherited two that look very simar to this. They are colt agents. Dated to the late 50's and early 60's. Looks like the value is around $550 on them.

38 special   this probably belong to a Chicago cop maybe he became a Detective and had it cut down to 3" its an odd size and theres no info anywhere about 3" guns  none were manufactured that size.

Either way there has to be a cool ass story or 3 that gun could tell.

I saw somewhere on the net - yeah, I know, "net wisdom" - that it was a common practice with some PD's back in the day for a patrolman, upon making detective, to have the barrel of his issued service revolver cut-down - both as a rite of passage and to be easier to carry concealed in his new role.  You might have one of them.

Thinking of buying a Birchwood Casey Rebluing kit and refinishing it already bought Pachmyer Grips for it havent desided if i like them better than the original ones yet.
