Colt Official Police

Recommended Posts

Manufactured in 1941 has a 3" barrel these guns did not come in 3" but it looks like. It was cut by a pro C.P.D. stamped on the bottom strap of the handle so this might have belonged to a Chicago Police Detective anybody ever come across one like this with a cut barrel and have a possible value. Thanks Keith

I saw somewhere on the net - yeah, I know, "net wisdom" - that it was a common practice with some PD's back in the day for a patrolman, upon making detective, to have the barrel of his issued service revolver cut-down - both as a rite of passage and to be easier to carry concealed in his new role.  You might have one of them.
