SW9racer 262 Posted March 12, 2014 What about the new non-score classification?
Jersey Joe 4 Posted March 12, 2014 I'll be there and I know at least one other is too. There's usually between 4 and 6 of us turn up regularly. I'll be there a bit before 7. cool...I'll be the guy with the clueless look on his face and a green Beretta shooting jacket.
Mr.Stu 1,927 Posted March 12, 2014 What about the new non-score classification? What about it? If you want to use a non-IDPA division compliant gun there should be no problem. Our Match Director, Tom has said its OK so long as you run it by him first. Also, it has to be a caliber allowed at the range, suitable for our backstop. e.g. no magnum, no rifle calibers, etc.
Mr.Stu 1,927 Posted March 12, 2014 cool...I'll be the guy with the clueless look on his face and a green Beretta shooting jacket. If you have never shot IDPA before, Tom will give you a thorough briefing which will hopefully help shift the cluelessness.

Howard 538 Posted March 12, 2014 That's good to know. I have never holstered a gun so I'll be all ears. If you have never drawn from a holster or holstered a gun, competition is really not the place to be learning this skill. This is probably one area where the most negligent discharges take place when handling a firearm. I would urge you to go take a lesson and practice this before you try doing this in competition both for your own safety and the safety of others around you. Jersey Joe 4 Posted March 12, 2014 Sorry...I didn't realize this was a competition. I thought it was practice.

That is one of the reasons for SCFGPA members' practice night. It is a supervised environment where people can learn the correct way to safely run their gun at a match. Joe, you are more than welcome, indeed encouraged, to come to the range tonight. I'm the British guy - you won't be able to miss me - we'll get you set up with Tom and you'll be just fine. Mr.Stu 1,927 Posted March 12, 2014 Sorry...I didn't realize this was a competition. I thought it was practice. Tonight is practice for SCFGPA members only - no match. Come along - its a great place to start. The match will be on Sunday.
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted March 12, 2014 Just to make people aware - the Wednesday night practice is for SCFGPA members only. Sunday's match is open to the public at large, but if you haven't registered already you will probably end up on the wait list. Have fun tonight. See you Sunday. Adios, Pizza Bob
Jersey Joe 4 Posted March 13, 2014 It was great meeting everyone last night. I had a great time, learned a bunch, and didn't shoot myself or anyone else. Everyone was very friendly and open to sharing their ideas and equipment. Now I just need a second job to support the new vice.
