Albanian 121 Posted September 28, 2014 http://imgur.com/a/rUr3u The hammer pretty much falls out as I can't get the screw in the right way. I don't think it is salvagable but it would be cool if it was. I'll probably take it to a gun smith to ask their professional opinion. There are no markings on it or anything. No serial number, no name, nothing.
Celraysoda 7 Posted September 28, 2014 That could be a Harrington & Richardson. 38 S&W. 1890-1892. The top of the barrel should be marked with the name on it. Also check for "999" stamped on the cylinder back face.
JT Custom Guns 957 Posted September 28, 2014 I would also guess H&R Top break................
PK90 3,570 Posted September 28, 2014 ... There are no markings on it or anything. No serial number, no name, nothing. But it does have your fingerprints on it. It was probably used in a crime.
bhunted 887 Posted September 28, 2014 Haven't looked at in awhile but we have an H&R antique in our HQ museum case that looks just like it.
Old School 611 Posted September 28, 2014 Very well could be Iver Johnson too as many of the H&R's had their logo on the grips.
DTtuner 21 Posted September 28, 2014 Looks like an H&R Top-Break, Small-Frame revolver. Also, possibly an Iver Johnson. https://bluebookofgunvalues.com/Gun_Values/Manufacturers/HARRINGTON_RICHARDSON_INC/Categories/HARRINGTON_RICHARDSON_INC_Top_Break_Revolvers_1885_1952?id=HARRINGTON_RICHARDSON_INC_Top_Break_Revolvers_1885_1952 From my research, anything H&R made prior to 1941 has no documentation. Best source of information is a $90 book on H&R firearms, written by Bill GoForth: http://www.gunshowbooks.com/cgi-bin/webc.exe/st_prod.html?p_prodid=HandRBook&sid=M16t9N0B Take the grips off. Some of the earlier Top-break revolvers had the serial number on the frame, under the grips.
Celraysoda 7 Posted September 28, 2014 I saw one in auction go for about $250 last year on GB. Really wanted it.
Albanian 121 Posted September 28, 2014 Thanks for the responses guys. I am going to check it out this week and look for some markings. I'll update with what I find tomorrow.
W2MC 1,699 Posted September 28, 2014 Looks like its from the class/category called "Velo-Dog"; its intended market was bicyclists for protection from chasing dogs. http://www.guns.com/2012/10/11/velo-dog-revolver/
