carl_g 568 Posted December 29, 2014 Anyone have one of these?? If so can you please provide your feedback. Looking for a small pocket gun.
diamondd817 827 Posted December 29, 2014 Looking for a small pocket gun. Look at the Ruger LCP then. Same 6+1 rds of .380 but smaller and lighter. The Glock 42 is in the same size class as all the single stack 9mm pistols, except it's chambered in .380. "If" you could pocket carry a gun that size, then I would go with one of the 9mm chamberings. If you want a true .380 pocket gun, Ruger LCP is my choice. Crusher 0 Posted December 30, 2014 Agreed. I would wait two weeks, till after SHOT Show. I have a feeling that Glock will then have a 9mm in a very similar size to the Glock 42.

If you want a true .380 pocket gun, Ruger LCP is my choice. This is the correct answer (and I am a Glock guy). I have an LCP for this exact reason. If I am getting a 9mm sized gun, it's gonna shoot 9. The S&W bodyguard is nice too, I would have gotten that instead if it was out at the time I bought the LCP. But the new LCP with upgraded sights is still good to go. I think it's going to be a big shocker to everyone when Glock does not release single stack 9mm.Unfortunately this^^^ I really want a G42 sized Glock in 9mm but they are so ass-backwards as a company (especially with all these suits and family BS going on) it will likely be quite a while before I get my wish. ETA: My friend has a G42. I got to shoot the crap out of it. It's a nice gun. Like I said, if it was 9mm I would have one already. If you don't care about the size and what could be coming out of it, go for it. You won't be disappointed. A-Tech 8 Posted December 30, 2014 As someone with average sized hands, I have a very hard time getting a good purchase on a G42 in a hurry. I tried making it through a weekend combative course with one and I didn't even bring it with me for day 2. I'm not a pocket gun type of guy and I wouldn't buy a 42 if it came in 9mm either. Barms 98 Posted December 30, 2014 Classic NJGF. "Anybody got a Glock 42?" All the replies were anything but. (Of corse the feedback is alway welcome I mean though. ) I remember one of my first posts was "what condition do you 1911 guys keep your weapon for home defense?" And the next 5 replies were anything but 1911s I love it. But actually I guess he did say looking for a small gun.
Blake 50 Posted December 30, 2014 I dont own one but put a few hundred rds thru my buddies when it was new in box. We had a crazy amount of fte's and double feeds. Issue hasnt been worked out yet. I made a thread about it a few weeks ago.

All replies were anything but what you insist, except for your post insisting the rest of us didn't contribute to the OP.

Clamp that baby down and I'm willing to bet no more fte

I don't owe a Glock 42 because it is not a 9mm and for its size it should be. Also I had a Glock rep tell me last year they were planning on a 9mm version within a year. As for the 1911, of course I carry mine in condition 1. My bed side is also in condition 1. Cheers!

millsan1 3 Posted December 30, 2014 I have one and carry it. I have shot it a bunch, and used it in a GSSF competition. I love the little guy. I find it exceptionally easy to shoot. I also have a Shield, which I very much like, but is a good deal larger, obviously. My GF carries her 42 as he gun of choice and is very happy with it. As for hand size, she is a typical small woman, and it fits her well. I have fairly large hands (XL gloves, shoot a 92 with Hogue grips) and the 42 fits my hand very well. As for 380 vs 9, I don't put much by that stuff. I don't want to be shot with a 22, 25, 32, 38, 380, 9 or any other caliber.

I made a thread about it a few weeks ago. Check to see if this is a first gen or second gen 42. It is my understanding this was a problem with the first gen. I forget the name of the part, but if you pull the slide back, and look down, there is a metal connector of some sort right there. There should be a part number stamped on it. If it ends in "-1" you have a gen 2, if not, it is a gen 1.
carl_g 568 Posted December 30, 2014 Thanks guys.. I was really interested in hearing about the glock. I know the size is not the same as the other 380 guns and I am ok with that. I have read that lately they have redesigned parts of the gun and the mags to address the reliability issues.

Barms 98 Posted December 30, 2014 I think Hickok45 has done his customary in depth review of the 42. He always offers good comparable pistol pro and cons.
