Starline .45acp brass?

I've been loading strictly Winchester .45acp cases and it seems Starline is easier to get. Anyone else using Starline?  I've read that Starline's cases are shorter than other brands. Is this true? Thanks.

Starline brass is made to SAAMI standards, which means it doesn't exceed the maximum specified length. All .45 ACP brass and new ammo that I have seen, comes in under max length. 

 

If your gun functions with the cartridge OAL at which your dies are set, then a case that is nominally shorter won't make a difference - just means a little more of the bullet will be exposed. No need to reset your dies.

 

Starline brass is good quality brass and used by many commercial/boutique ammunition manufacturers.

Any reason your using virgin brass?  You know there is a FET on new brass of 15%?  www.nereloading.com has once fired speer larger primer brass available for under $72/1000 delivered with coupon code "bullets".

I've used plenty of Starline that's been loaded shot and reloaded 38, 357 and 45. never had a problem with it.

If you don't change your die setting, the internal volume will remain the same. You would only change the volume by seating the bullet deeper in the mistaken belief that you need to compensate, somehow, for the shorter brass. Just leave things alone, load and be happy.

I've used Starline for 9x23, 10mm, 44 mag, 460 Rowland and have found it to be of excellent quality.

Starline is my brass of choice for 40 SW 45 Colt and 460 SW Mag.  I have never had a problem with their brass.  I can say with absolute certainty that nobody makes better longer lasting 460 brass!

IIRC actual price was only $2 less than Midway, but Starline ships on their dime. However, I was getting about 5 other things so got it from Midway.

OK so far so good with the Starline. 45acp. No die problems and no problems in the gun. I would buy them again. Thanks guys.

I've bought 9s, 40s & 45's cases directly from starline. Thus far, they have survived multiple reloadings without any problems. In the future, if I need new brass, I will buy them again.
