S&W ar15-22 jamming ftf fte

I've had my 15-22 for four years.  Love it!  Had some issues running Federal bulk ammo through it, but since switching to CCI Tactical, jams have been infrequent.

 

A few weeks ago I was shooting it up at Cherry Ridge, and got to talking with the guy next to me who also had one.  He was complaining that his was jamming at least a round or two per mag.  He was using Federal Match LRN.  I gave him some of my CCI Tactical try, and he didn't have another issue with it.  You can usually find it for around $30 for a pack of 300 on sale somewhere.

I asked my FFL what he thought and he sent me this pic of another one (brand new) in his shop...and it has the gap between the pin and the bolt...

So is this one correct and mine needs the needle nose tweak ?

Mine has this gap, never a malfunction with any brand 22lr

Installed the Volquartsen extractor, cleaned it, lightly clp'd it, and successfully put 100+ rounds thru it yesterday with maybe 1-2 miss fires. Throws shells 10ft now and fires like a dream. Now to get the scope dialed in....

I know you said you added lube but whenever I get a new gun I strip it down as much as I can and clean/lube with my lubricant/cleaner of choice - I don't rely on what the factory put on the gun and like to do an inspection before first taking it out.  Glad to hear it is sorted,

Mine is 3 month old and I stop counting shots after 3k, it shots any ammo I stick into it. No single issue until it gets very dirty.
