SpecialK 193 Posted March 10, 2009 I will be in Jersey and wanting to shoot this summer. What ranges do you suggest that will allow guests or temporary memberships? I can prove that I am a vet if that helps and maybe even possibly will be in the National Guard by then. I will be staying in West Orange.
Maksim 1,504 Posted March 10, 2009 I beleive there is a private club in NJ that is free to vets. I will ask at my next monthly meeting. Perhaps someone at CJRC can say as well.
NJShooter 0 Posted March 11, 2009 There have been some range closures in NJ. The two public ones that come to mind are Brick Armory in Brick of Parkway, Exit 91 and the Bullet Hole in Belleville that's just north of Newark.
SpecialK 193 Posted March 11, 2009 Been to the Bullet Hole once to just look around. When I told them I was moving to Jersey from Colorado they looked at me like I was an idiot. hahahahaha

Sgt.Fathead 0 Posted March 11, 2009 Brick Armory is alive and well in the Lakewood industrial park, right around the corner from their near competitor, Shore Shot.

windsor21 0 Posted March 11, 2009 Thats funny, when folks at The Bullet Hole find out that I moved from Texas to Jersey, they do look at me like there is something really wrong with me!! Its a very funny look i get.
tbtrout 141 Posted March 12, 2009 Brick Armory is a good place to shoot.
tankcommander 4 Posted March 14, 2009 I'm retired military and shoot at Fort Dix at the Rod and Gun Club range. Retired and active duty costs $30 a year to be a member. $3 an hour to shoot. I prefer outdoor shooting, its just more fun. The fresh air and the use of a 200 meter range is tough to beat. TC
average joe 5 Posted March 14, 2009 Also in Jersey ,ranges that closed in the last few years : 1. Englishtown Shooting range in Englishtown 2. Hillsborough Shooting Center in Hillsborough 3. Rays in North Plainfield.
tbtrout 141 Posted March 14, 2009 I used to love shooting at Hillsboro. We even had my bachelor party there. For cold and nasty weather it is nice to have an indoor range close. I also shoot on Dix. Shooting at 200 is nice. I wish they had longer. There is something about shooting outside. Especially when the line is full and the first volley of fire fills the air with burnt powder. What a smell.
Maksim 1,504 Posted March 14, 2009 Hillsborough was great. It was the first place we (brother and I) went shooting. Anyone know why they closed down?
