sroc112 24 Posted July 9, 2016 A few handguns I am looking at come in both size caliber. Was looking to see if you all can shed some light on your personal experience with the two and pros and cons to each compar d to the other. Thanks!
mikeyjones 88 Posted July 9, 2016 Unless you reload, 357sig is harder to find and more expensive. A quick search on ammoseek shows that 40SW is roughly 1/2 the price of 357sig.
sroc112 24 Posted July 9, 2016 That seems to sum it up well, thanks!
HuntingPaper 62 Posted July 9, 2016 I have a 1911, P226 and P229 (all Sig Sauer) chambered on 357sig and I really like the caliber. I do reload my own and it requires a little bit more of experience than other calibers. I like the recoil impulse and it shoots very flat. I also have several 40sw guns and I think I like better the 357sig. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted July 9, 2016 .357 Sig is a .40 cartridge necked down to hold a 9mm bullet (basically). More powder behind it so you're propelling a smaller projectile faster. Bottlenecked cartridges are more difficult to reload than straight-walled (more steps to reload). .40 S&W can be found fairly cheaply at times and sometimes in more quantity than 9mm. Rob0115 1,105 Posted July 9, 2016 Yeah I've thought about getting one. I shoot 9x25 which is 10 necked down to 9.
TheWind 17 Posted July 11, 2016 I have a Glock 23 with barrels for .357 Sig and .40. I like the .357 Sig to shoot better, flatter and more power. But it is true, more expensive and harder to find.
