Your friend can try bringing the below directive issued directly from the Attorney General of NJ to the attention of the chief of police, and if no traction gained there, the mayor: http://www.nj.gov/lps/dcj/agguide/directives/2016-4_Permits-to-Carry-Firearms_Directive.pdf Page 2, middle of 2nd paragraph (my emphasis added, any typos are probably mine):

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this Friday. My wife and I are meeting my sister and her family for dinner in Montclair that evening. I will try to be able to attend the next meet up. Of course, please feel free to toast me, preferably in a non-disparaging manner.... All the best! Skål! AVB-AMG Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The moment another "human" decides me or my family is worth doing harm or worse, they are no longer worth ANYTHING. I'm not talking morality, spirituality, holiness or PTSD. That comes second to my family. That is all.

I don't think Burger King is selling replacement parts for 10/22s yet, but Ruger makes and sells a BX replacement trigger assembly. I have 2 of them and they're great improvements to the factory trigger. They still don't have the automatic bolt release feature, but that's easily remedied. The 10/22 I use for the CMP Rimfire Sporter Matches would no longer make the required 3 pound minimum trigger pull, so I replaced the trigger return spring (behind the trigger blade inside the trigger guard) with a slightly heavier spring. Voila, CMP-Legal rifle! To answer your question - YES it make a boatload of difference. Esp for only $60.

First - No killing is ever a good killing. It may be justified, it may be reasonable, it may even be ethically, legally, and morally correct, but it is never, ever good. Second - There is no such thing as "excessive force" it is either justified or it isn't - "excessive force" is a made up buzz word like "Assault Rifle" that the Left and the media like to throw around. You can hit someone with your car, set them on fire, beat them with a frying pan - if deadly force is justified, none of those methods are "excessive". Third - there are many facets to self defense. One of them is the use of deadly force. It isn't always justified but when it is, it's on. Deadly force is just that - force that can cause death. Deadly force is used to stop another's aggressive actions that may result in the death or serious bodily injury of yourself or another, and is justified providing that you didn't create the situation where force is now required (i.e.: you can't walk around Newark at 0 dark thirty with $100 bills falling out of your pockets and then use deadly force on an attacker. That would not be justified.) You are permitted to use such force as necessary until the actor ceases his aggressive and dangerous actions. No where does it say you only get one shot, one stab, one hit. Force is used until the actor stops. There is also no provision that states you have to warn an attacker of your pending action prior to using force or to announce your intent to possess or use a weapon to defend yourself or another. I am sure there is a lot more to this story. I am withholding judgement until more facts are in. That being said, I like it when the good guys win. I hope this turns out to be one of those times.

Thank you for posting this article! It really clicked with me. As a beginner, I'm still figuring out my strategy and it was refreshing to see this "buy fewer, but buy better and train more" viewpoint. It makes sense to me and makes me feel I'm on the right path (for ME anyway) --- to try out many firearms/shooting sports, figure out exactly which 1 or 2 shooting sports I'm MOST interested in, and outfit myself ONLY for those. It's also a good reminder that training (not just practice) should be factored into my budget. ( @High Exposurehas mentioned that last point emphatically a few times too. Seems like spot-on advice). I know myself... and I have a "collector mindset" with a few of my other hobbies, but I don't want to go down that rabbit hole with this hobby too. If I start buying firearms based on finish, color, newest model, need a new caliber, etc. --- I'll soon be in the poorhouse. For example, I could sooooo see myself with a sweet collection of antique derringers - for whatever reason, I JUST LOVE THOSE! But NOPE! ...ain't gonna do it!! (OK, maybe just ONE... they're so teensy after all.... easy enough to squeeze in a safe, right? See how incredibly weak I am? LOL.) Still, I'd rather try to judiciously limit my collection from the get-go rather than have to reduce a collection at a later date. At the price of 2 bucks, I'm not going to bat an eye about permits expiring. It's chump change. (There. I'm now on the record. That should help rein me in). Mind you, I'm not criticizing those of you who are enthusiastic buyers and collectors. If you can afford it... go for it! At least guns seems to hold or even increase in value. So, you see, you're really not spending... you're INVESTING WISELY... (see how nicely I put that? Don't you feel better? Now, everyone, go invest wisely... use all those permits!)

Zeke beat me to it. If Murphy wins he's already basically said he wants be safer than the NY Safe Act and be more commie than Commeifornam. I believe NJ in the past has tried to pass 7 round restrictions. Buying 10 round mags now doesn't guarantee they'll be legal in a year. Buy what's legal or makes sense to you now. Nobody has a crystal ball and knows what the laws will be in the future. Maybe North Korea nukes us or the libs do start the next civil war. Maybe Trump does away with ATF and its full capacity, full auto and suppressed for everyone. Good luck with your purchase. CZs are fantastic firearms. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Unless North Korea nukes us.
