  1. I fully understand your point. That is why I used "I" in my statement. I have found that cops are not the best at real CCW. Full disclosure, FED retirement in 2014. I was in NJ lst week and saw a guy CCW'ing at Wal-Mart. Obvious short haircut LEO. His CCW piece was a Glock with some type of OWB Kydex holster (was sticking out of his flannel shirt). i have found that because NJ is so CCW unfriendly it is easy to spot LEOs CCW'ing. I believe that carrying concealed truly means concealed. I can open carry wherever I want, choose not to. I can shoot my tiny guns just fine.
  2. I have a couple of G19's and now that I carry every day never use them. I find them way too big for concealed carry. The largest size now Glock I carry is the G26. I prefer single stack 9mm's now (Sig P290RS or Kahr K9. I always have a 380 in my pocket in addition to the single stack 9.
  3. I have seen a 311 that seemed to lock up tight but the action popped open whenever the gun was fired. It was not something that was obvious when looking at the gun and locking and unlocking.
  4. Virginia now recognizes all government issued concealed carry licenses.

  6. I have an early 1970's 336 in 30-30. I really like the rifle. Now that I am in a rifle hunting state it will get some real use. The 30-30 is very soft shooting and accurate enough for deer hunting. The rifle handles really well. I am not sure about the newer models.
  7. Sorry to hear that. I had my last dog put down at 16 1/2 in September. It never gets an easier...
  8. i have it in 9mm. I really like it so far. Just haven't shot it enough. No issues and it is tiny. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Since I am now permanently in the USA now I carry everywhere. A lot of the guns I thought would work are too big for me to carry every day. I always have a 380 in my pocket along with a G26. I just bought a Sig P290RS and it may end up becoming my EDC. The G19 and other similar sized guns were too big to cut conceal for me in the summer. I have also found that I have gone through a few holsters that just don't work for me. I do like the fact that I can open carry, I just choose concealed carry. I see tons of people open carrying here in NW Va, even when picking kids up at the local school. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. In most free states it is like storing a hammer at a friend's house. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. The loads that cowboy action shooters use are very low powered with no recoil. The 44mag in a single action will recoil strongly with 44 magnum loads. I have two Ruger SBH in 44 magnum and they are a handful compared to the 38/357. 45LC is really easy to shoot compared to the 44 mag.
  12. I agree with using an adjustable gas plug 100%. I use the Schuster plug. It is very easy to use.
  13. Her response was how I was trained to react to a near ambush. You have to attack it. Staying Stationary with 3 against 1 is a recipe for disaster. She was in the fight immediately. She caused the bad guys to panic and run. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Outstanding example of how violence of action and taking the fight to the bad guys won the fight.
  15. I moved all of my guns, ammo, reloading stuff with a u-haul. It was a PITA but much less than movers. They said they would move guns but no ammo/powder, etc.
  16. I am usually a S&W guy when it comes to revolvers, the exception is Ruger for 44 Magnum. They build seriously strong 44's. I have two Super Blackhawks in 44 Magnum and will be using the 7 1/2" one for deer this year in VA. I have also used it for hog. Exceptional hunting handgun.
  17. I own an Excalibur. Best crossbow made in my opinion. I hunt with it, never really shoot it much except to verify that the scope is still zeroed (5 to 10 shots). Your crossbow uses 20" bolt/arrows. I use Excalibur Firebolt's and Excalibur Boltcutter Fixed 150gr broadheads. This setup is very accurate and shoots through deer for a very quick clean kill. I wouldn't shoot 100 shots without waxing the string and lubing the rail.
  18. Please, stay in NJ. Do not leave the state and move south. The highlighted part of your post is a prime example why NJ is like it is. Please keep your "common sense" gun laws in NJ.
  19. +1000 on this. I no longer live in the state and still sent the emails. You have made it very easy. Thank you.
  20. I w=always wondered why people that moved from NJ to free states were still active on the site. I moved to VA this summer and received my CCW in 14 days (due to the fact that a circuit court judge signed off). I carry everywhere (2 guns). I know that I will continue to visit the site because of the drama. I can't find any site in VA with the same drama. Nobody asking about ccw, transfers, etc. I went back to NJ last week to pack up the last of the stuff to bring to VA. The reason that most continue to frequent the site is the NJ drama. I can't find any forums in VA with people complaining about the state and firearms. The only recommendation I have is move, NOW. NJ is toxic. My wife is a north Jersey person who can't believe how nice it is here. the school system is better, it is way less expensive to live, etc.
  21. I agree with this statement. I hunt and eat goose quite a bit (Canada and snows). Treat it as a type of red meat and do not overcook unless doing slow cooker/jerky. There is a lot of meat on a Canada goose. I hunt a lot and will not shoot anything that I won't eat.
  22. Just a reminder that NJ now has a wanton waste law.
  23. #4 steel is marginal for big ducks. I usually use #2 for duck.
