  1. +1000000. Any "NJ Legal" 15rd mag can be modified to hold one or two more by taking the mag apart and shaving off the follower and then reassembling. This guessing game can be taken to extremes. What if you cut a mag that has been welded, trim the follower and duct tape, epoxy or weld it together to hold 16 or more? This can be done with all 15rd mags. What is the definitive answer? My guess is that there is no definitive answer.
  2. They did a great job with the place. I stopped in yesterday and was impressed. The archery pro shop/range is well done. Best part is that it is less than three miles from my house.
  3. +1. All of the hunting clubs in my area are on private land and all have a range. The towns do not have a discharge ordinance. I belong to a hunting club that provides part ownership to each dues paying member. The club bylaws make each member part landowner. This is a valid way of shooting on private property without breaking any transport laws. This is in South Jersey.
  4. For penetration I like the Brenneke Special Forces Short Magnum (12ga 2 3/4"). I was issued these on the North Slope of Alaska for Polar Bear protection. Brenneke also makes a Special Forces Maximum Barrier Penetration slug that I have no experience with. I don't really use slugs based on expansion because they are plenty big enough.
  5. It sounds like your friends were "short shucking" or "short stroking" the shotgun. A lot of inexperience shooters do not fully pump the action all the way back and forth, this causes the type of malfunctions you describe.
  6. I put a Leupold Scout scope on my Ruger GSR and love it. I hunted boar last year in TN using an Aimpoint at shorter distance, but the Scout scope works really well. I have the fixed 2.5 power version and it is very good glass. I haven't shot to 300 with it yet. It is very accurate and clear to 150yds (furthest I have used it). I plan on taking it out to a longer range to test the capabilities.
  7. If you choose to have warranty "upgrades" you need to pay shopping to Glock. They pay for shipping back. UPS requires next day. Very pricey. I had this done on a 2nd gen G21 a long time ago.
  8. I have seen this grip taught in civilian classes. Never made much sense to me, feels very unnatural.
  9. I have two QQ plated vehicles. Only rear plates are required NJ Title 39 (39:3-27.4)
  10. That is exactly the point I was trying to make.
  11. I was discussing the fact that people were saying that the owner killed the dog, nothing at all to do with the animal. An animal jumping out of a window does not kill itself. Another action must take place for it to be killed (shot, hit by car, etc.). I did not in any way shape, or form compare a gun to an animal. It was about the actual cause of death.
  12. Arguing that the owners' inability to secure the dog is the reason the dog is dead seem to not realize that it was the bullets striking the dog that killed the dog...This is the same logic used by the anti-gun crowd when discussing gun violence. I am just pointing this out because it really sticks out in some posts. I have no ill will towards the police officer that shot the dog, just looking for some consistency in people's arguments.
  13. The Bill of Rights in the Constitution (Amendments 1-10) do not "give" us any rights, it acknowledges or recognizes the natural rights of liberty and property we are born with.
  14. Very sorry for your loss.
  15. You are never supposed to give your gun lock keys to anyone. The locks are supposed to be non-TSA locks and only in your possession.
  16. 12ga with slugs are carried all the time in Alaska for brown bear and polar bear protection.
  17. Hot water works fine to remove grease.
  18. Although not glue, silver solder is accepted as permanent without a pin and weld. Isn't it?
  19. Completely agree. I load 44mag in everything from .44spl power through max loads. You can also save a bunch by casting you own bullets.
  20. I have both. Like most, I shoot the .357 a lot more. The .44 is more satisfying to shoot. I reload both so cost is not much of a factor. I would go with .44 if you are planning on doing any hunting. If not, then I would go with the .357.
  21. I hunt hogs (Russian boars) and wouldn't use anything smaller than .44 mag. I shot one last year that was 350 lbs. Most southern states allow handgun hunting for deer and hogs.
