Let's hear it for higher minimum wages
Springfield1911 replied to Howard's topic in General Discussion
That machine is useless. It only cuts a couple of different more common keys. Hate to break it to you but that machine creates jobs. There is a company that manufactures it, stocks it, maintains it...etc. -
Big price increase in Water Heaters in 2015
Springfield1911 replied to Malsua's topic in General Discussion
I can understand mandating high efficiency levels for furnaces to heat your home but high efficient water heaters?? My natural gas bill in the summer is less than $20.00 which includes the natural gas to fire my water heater, my stove for cooking, & gas dryer. I never understood spending $1000 dollars for an on demand water heater vs spending $375 for my plain jane 40 gallon Bradford White. -
I second the Termidor. I was a pest control tech for a few years and that was the magic bullet as far as I am concerned. Expensive but it works. Used it on many house with active termite infestations and probably only had 1 failure. The one that failed had a spot treatment done and was Ok after that.

http://www.keepshooting.com/remington-597-magazine-10-round.html I've purchased a couple of these mags and they are really good quality mags.

You cant go wrong with Ariens but I have had a Simplicity for years. They are a great commercial brand. Not sure who owns them or makes them now but from what I understand they are still solid machines. You'll probably spend along the lines of $1800 for a Simplicity. People will tell you to buy the biggest one but if you have a smaller driveway do NOT buy a huge snowblower. Buy a compact 2 stage (24" path). If you have a huge drive by all means buy the biggest baddest snowblower with the biggest motor you can find. Also take storage room into consideration. Also some of the big box stores like Home Depot sell snow blowers with plastic chutes. Not sure how those fare with abuse but I would pass on those. Probably made by MTD.

Why Is NJ Not Ready For Snow?
Springfield1911 replied to HolyHandGrenade's topic in General Discussion
The issue isn't snow tires but the fact that people just don't get new tires soon enough. All season tires are just fine if you know how to drive but you cant wait until the tread is down to nothing. -
This has happened many times to me in the past. Not surprised but those people get paid minimum wage so I wouldn't expect them to be reliable especially on a holiday weekend.

This isn't the first time Bergen County police got into a confrontation with another municipality, state, etc...

I had an experience with Ruger where I had to send a new firearm to them for repair and I can tell you even during the rush it was back within 2 weeks. Great customer service and I wouldn't hesitate to send it back to them. Ruger will take care of you.

Arent you supposed to retreat in NJ? I still say she would have been in big trouble in NJ. If she had a back door to the house wouldnt you HAVE TO in NJ actually retreat? I don't think its so cut and dry in NJ as some people are saying here.

If this happened in NJ the home owner would have been arrested. Just goes to show you how backwards this state is.

If you are looking for strictly a Cashback card then Chase freedom would be the best one. They truly give you 2% back on all purchases with no limits. They also run the quarterly 5% cashback while shopping at certain retailers but with usual limits of 5% back on up to $1500.00 worth of purchases. Also Chase Freedom lets you apply your cashback bonus to your monthy bill if you want. Stay away from Citi. Their cashback cards suck. Years ago Citi had the best cashback rewards and they slowly but surly dwindled it down to nothing. If you are looking for "rewards" then you can't beat AMEX.

If you claim 0 and depending how much you make its probably about 20-25% taken out every paycheck.

Why do people go out of their way to use LEO as their references? Where I got my original FID card years ago the officer in charge of FID applications said not to use any LEO for a reference.

Cabelas Restricted Shipping on Primers to NJ.
Springfield1911 replied to Candide's topic in Ammunition & Reloading
I believe the reason why Cabelas doesn't ship primers to NJ is because the NJ law doesn't make sense regarding the shipment of primers so Cabelas is not taking any chances. -
Anyone use AT&T for a cell provider?
Springfield1911 replied to fishnut's topic in General Discussion
I've had AT&T for over 10 years and have traveled from Boston to Orlando. I have always been able to make a phone call. -
Urgent: Opinions on 597 purchase
Springfield1911 replied to NorthJersey's topic in Rimfire Pistols & Rifles
I have a 597. I am very impressed with the out of the box accuracy. I had a lot of stove pipe jams with it when I first bought it. I installed a Volq extractor and it has been flawless ever since. It even eats up the cheap dirty remington golden bullet. I cant believe they cost over $200 bucks now. I paid like $140 a few years back and that was with the bull barrel. -
Swager or a metal drawing machine setup to make cases (extruder). A turning center & a serious annealing oven. Probably would also need a press. Manufacturing the brass cartridge is the most difficult part of ammo manufacturing.

44 mag Tuarus Revolver - capable or crap?
Springfield1911 replied to Combat Auto's topic in Handguns
People say Taurus make junk revoloves but I read plenty of stories with the newer Smith and Wesson revolvers having lots of quality issues. Ruger all the way. -
LOL @ Alamo Ammo $1300/1000 Federal 5.56 Bulk
Springfield1911 replied to millsan1's topic in Hot Deal Discussions
When in the history of ammo have prices ever gone down? Folks get used to paying a lot for ammo thanks to all the panicing. -
I love how everyone on here says they will boycott Dicks and they are in the store "browsing" to get dicked.
-
You all talk like no other company is going to raise their prices. Wait and see. Everyones prices will be up to CTD standards soon enough.

Experiences w/ BudsGunShop? Story Inside..
Springfield1911 replied to NJSlick's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
I ordered a gun from Bud's about 3 years ago. It was a good experience. I placed the order and the gun was at my FFL is 2 days. I have heard of horror stories too with them lately. I think they got to big to satisfy all their customers as of the last year or so. Now with all the panic buying I would have to say to stay away from any online retailer.
